It's because Kent was the only thing Barnes had any control over I think. If you're going to cherry pick something about this season to hold over Barnes' that'd be the only one he had any sort of control over.

He could’ve cut JJ and added someone else, could’ve added someone instead of pursuing Blackshear, just a lot of possibilities that I have a hard time acting as if the reason we are 17-14(9-9) is because of Kent.

Why do you do that? Say things with such tunnel vision?

If Bone and Williams returns and we are Top 15 nationally does that change holding on to Kent?

What if Plavsic is eligible all year and we are dancing?

What if James doesn’t suffer an injury and we are dancing?

What if Turner is healthy and we are dancing?

What if we land Blackshear in the off-season and are dancing?

Acting as if there are no other factors involved in going 17-14, and making it seem as if the sole reason we are 17-14 is because of Zach Kent is just a really weird take.

Well sure all those things matter but you can’t control any of those things on that list. Injuries happen and guys go pro.

the only thing we had 100% control of on that list was kent

JJ helped this team. In fact we don’t win at rupp without him

Kent not so much

TN would have easily made the NCAAT this year had Gonzaga not won the battle for the WCC POY. TN barely lost in the recruitment of Filip Petrušev. There's a bit of a gap between Burns or Walker or Uros or ORN or Pember or Kent and Petrušev.

I’ve mentioned him multiple times as a huge miss when looking back, the staff thought they had him, and did until Gonzaga called while he was on his OV here.

What a difference this year looks like if you add him, imagine adding him and bringing back Williams and Bone and a healthy Turner? It’s why I struggle to place a ton of blame on Barnes for this year being a bit down, a lot of breaks went against them...yes they need to prepare to avoid those more going forward, but not hard to see the plan they had in place.

Aren’t you quoted as saying Pember would never help win a SEC game?

No. I have been very clear. I don’t think he’s ever going to a winning SEC player. Big difference

that usce matchup was just a awful game where one single play decided the outcome. Not exactly two high level teams on that court that day

Kent is what will keep his soul warm for the next few years. Especially if Victor Bailey plays well. Agendas need something to hold onto. 😏

Being a member of the Zach Kent fan club must be lonely now. At least you guys won’t have to worry about catching the virus due to large crowds

Spin it Bruin! Disregarding one player’s factor in your portrayal of the whole basketball program’s destruction. Laying in your own goo at this point.

Damn @butchna you got the whole program destructing now. You been watching Too much Bloomberg television lately. I promise you won’t catch the virus during that kent fan club meeting. There will be plenty of room
In there

Deflect...classic Bruin. Playing dumb was the role you were born into. 😉

Well we are talking about 2 different positions completely, and I know you’re ready to write off Pember but I’m not. And even with that said, Barnes isn’t playing 11-12 guys, so it really is a moot point as far as next year goes.

Exactly you can't write off Pember yet after what we've seen CRB do with avg talent.

Pember has already shown more than Kent in that he has a drive/scrappiness that Kent did not possess. I think he could end up being an okay stretch 3/4 as a senior or junior and being a 6th man.

Is that worth keeping? I dunno, but Barnes is likely to keep him anyway.

I have less faith in Plavsic’s ability to be more than a backup center and play like 10 min because the league is changing from having plodding centers towards speed or stretch guys. Imagine Plavsic guarding Fulkerson, for instance. Which, again, there is a role for

It would be ugly for sure.I just hope he can develop half as much as Fulky over the next couple of years

So in light of the Jalen Johnson news, Cardwell should be the priority now right? 6’10 220 is something we don’t have a lot of right now

The cruel reality is the writing is on the wall with Pember and we can’t keep him around like we did with Kent. We are one game from having a legit shot of dancing this season and replacing Kent with a contributor could have easily won us one more game. I respect Barnes very much for not “firing” mistakes in recruiting but this season is clear to see the consequences of that.

Give me this guy for Pember please
Wrong.
