We are saying the extent of this infection rate is hidden? Meaning there are tons of people with this already? At the same time as saying there are tons with it, we have 12 deaths? So then why is this thing a big deal?

We have certain criteria for running flu tests. I'm sure they aren't going to test everyone that sneezes. That would be ridiculous. You are going to have reactionary people showing up at the hospital requesting corona testing because the media has blown this up so badly. They will just say no, you have a cold.
On the other hand we have inf A positive pts who want to bring 25 family members in daily and they aren't washing their hand or wearing their masks the whole time in the room. I tell them if they don't follow the process posted on the door they won't be allowed back. Period. People can be stupid.

Speaking of Doc, we keep hearing test kits. Is this a blood test or a swab like the flu test?

No it isn't. There are several effective antivirals now. One is taken as a single oral dose, one is inhaled, and there is an IV option. They also reduce the length of infectivity.
