Trump is currently working on that with the two largest laboratory providers in North America. Tests should be available in a matter of days if not hours.

In their minds, Trump was using this as an excuse for authoritarian crackdown until about a week and a half ago, then when the stock market started going down (all of a sudden they started caring about stock market declines too, even though only the top 1% own stocks) all of a sudden he was deemed to be way behind the curve.

Please elaborate. Other than the State Department employee(s) that brought sick people back on an airplane with healthy people, haven't most of the "real" steps followed sound scientific procedures? The CDC and the local politicians seem to be making sounds moves. Yes politicians are involved and they are so full of it that occasionally a fart comes out the wrong in and everyone gets to make hay, but I don't think anyone is putting politics over public health at this point.

At the national level my main complaint is the lack of preparedness and lack of testing (the farts are mostly just funny). You're right, he can't win but truthfully Trump should stay in his lane on this and defer the opinions to the people with letters behind their names. Politicians commenting on public health matters is a recipe for misinformation that will result in further distrust of the .gov.

Agreed, but at the same time, the press probably aren't any better than Trump with either opinion or facts. If we listen to the press reporting what a politician says, I'm not sure it's that much better than what happens to a name in a reception line.
