If this were really all that the press and some others were trying to make it, I'd love to see it addressed with a call to the doctor or similar phone triage center and response teams sent to homes to evaluate rather than people going to hospitals or doctor's offices. In reality considering incubation periods and that the virus can be spread by those who really don't feel sick, it probably makes no difference to try that.

I did read it. I also read Pence's comments. I also read that those have been walked back.

“There won’t be a million people to get a test by the end of the week,” Republican Senator Rick Scott of Florida said in Washington Thursday. “It’s way smaller than that. And still, at this point, it’s still through public-health departments.”

Scott and other lawmakers said the government is “in the process” of sending test kits out and people still need to be trained on how to use them. The entire process could take days or weeks, they said.

Understand, I am not placing all of the blame on the Trump administration for not having the tests available. An argument could be made that if he had taken it more seriously at the beginning, instead of buying into the pseudo-science he prefers, maybe we'd be further along. But that is speculative.

What I WILL criticize them for is YET AGAIN talking out of their collective azzes and getting basic facts wrong. AGAIN.

Their collective incompetence is breathtaking at this point.

It's possible that the virus could expand quickly but the truth is right now that since Feb 17th the number of recovered cases have outpaced new cases...so every day there are fewer active cases 20200305_151412.jpg

Interesting side note: Although Pence says that every American can be tested if a doctor signs off on it, Florida's Governor has announced that we will not follow that process here. The stated reason is that they are worried that the labs that can do them - there are 3 -- will be overwhelmed. So less people tested logically = more cases of infection as peopel do not know they are infected and think they have something else.

Once again, if surrounded by the professionals and scientists, Trump will say the measured thing, the right thing, with minimal factual inacurracy (and he will be immediately corrected by them when he gets it wrong).

But get him on the phone with Hannity? The truth is the first casualty.

Unless you’re doing loads of preemptive testing it’s only good for tracking purposes. If you test positive for corona you’ve been spreading infection for days. And the people you’ve been infecting have been spreading it as well. The suspicion is Washington has had the virus for weeks but cases were mild and people didn’t see a doctor.

Pretty sure in that first briefing with Trump, Pence, and the gaggle of CDC people they said they expected more people in the US to get infected and the numbers to go up. Perhaps you have selective hearing and hear what you want to hear.

Remember, your crowd was calling Trump a racist when he floated an idea of restricting travel to/from China back in mid-January. Hope you guys didn't tear a muscle shifting positions so quickly.

Your complaints are so dumb. You think these people in your scenario are going to quarantine themselves until the labs get back to them?

Additionally, is someone going to come find them and emphatically state when each person is no longer contagious and thus can resume life?

3 labs vs 200 million some odd cases (predicted 70% infection) . Yeah I think they will take a while to run those tests.

It is a virus people. Government cant save you. Practice some common sense and be grateful that there are people in this world that are working on it from a scientific perspective.
