Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Seriously, Mike Pence just got told he was the starting QB of an unwinnable game that he's never played.

We should All be terrified that a career politician and sycophantic yes man is 'in charge' of a global pandemic.

We can only hope that he is smart enough to just shut up and get out of the way of the experts.
Which would put him head and shoulders above Trump.

If/when corona gets a beachhead in the U.S., I wonder how schools will respond? Will closings be district by district? I imagine if one city shuts down there will be a lot of pressure for nearby ones to do so, too.
The bills will still have to be paid unfortunately and the infected will still come into work sick spreading it around. Just imagine all your poor Walmart workers with no insurance going to work sick with it just imagine how many people they could infect and spread it too.

If there's a silver lining, we know for sure that Pence ain't gonna catch something from another woman.

CNN:

"Health and Human Services Secretary Alexander Azar stressed that he was still in charge of the task force addressing the novel coronavirus following President Donald Trump's announcement that Vice President Mike Pence would lead US efforts to battle the outbreak.
"I'm still chairman of the task force," Azar said Wednesday, as a White House news briefing on the coronavirus concluded and Trump and Pence looked on.
"Mick Mulvaney has been serving an invaluable role for me as acting chief of staff, helping to coordinate across the government with my colleagues and the whole of government approach," Azar continued. "Having the vice president gives me the biggest stick one could have in the government on this whole of government approach."
Just minutes before, Trump had said Pence would lead the US government's response to the coronavirus. Azar's post-news conference statements muddled the message on who is in charge of the administration's response to the crisis, which was perhaps the biggest news to come out of Trump's meandering news conference on the virus Wednesday evening.

Azar's comments came after CNN reported earlier Wednesday that Trump had privately expressed frustration with his HHS secretary, accusing Azar of not keeping him updated enough.
"I'm going to be putting our Vice President Mike Pence in charge, and Mike will be working with the professionals, doctors and everybody else that's working," Trump said during the news conference, adding that Pence will report directly to him.

When asked whether he felt he being replaced, Azar relied, "Not in the least."
"When this was mentioned to me, I was delighted that I'd get to have the vice president helping me -- delighted, absolutely," he continued.

So... Pence is in charge, but not in charge. Got it.

I don't want him to cause panic. I just don't want him to minimize it by making it seem like the regular flu is worse, or that it's unlikely we will have new cases, simply because he's worried that it makes him look bad.

Everyone knows this is not his fault and is out of his control. What he should say is that he is appointing someone truly qualified (not freaking lackey Pence) to stay on top of it and deploy resources quickly as needed. No one in their right mind would think Pence has some sort of skill here.
So you want to arbitrarily demand an in between narrative. With your history, that's a losing effort. At some point you really have to ask yourself if constantly bitching is worth it. I feel sorry for you LG. The same way I felt bad for the Never Obama types. It's a tough scene.

You should never feel sorry for the people that know Trump is a POS, you should feel sorry for the ones that don't.

So... Pence is in charge, but not in charge. Got it.

Trump has to have someone to blame if it goes south, at the same time, position himself to lavish praise on himself if it doesn't.

I dont care if you dislike him. It's the ones that think 100% is bad. The ones who find fault, no matter what. Those people arent reasonable and I cant imagine surrounding yourself with that much negatively is healthy on the brain or heart. I hope LG just plays a part on here.. for his health.

Yeah, in the next few days we'll get photos of Pence sitting at a table with guys in white coats and thick binders, maybe a big poster board. Or perhaps touring a lab, looking concerned and serious.

It's not really amazing at all seeing as how the cuts haven't gone into effect.
If a 10% reduction has no negative impact, why would anyone worry about a 10% reduction in pay, or a 10% increase in taxes?

I just find it humorous that Trump, you, and others talk about the world class status of the CDC and how they will do what needs to be done to protect us, but at the same time feel justified in slashing their budget.
So, you don't think any government agencies could possibly function just as well with a 10% reduction in funding? I'm afraid that you GROSSLY underestimate the wastefulness of .gov

Well that just depends on how much that agency outsources its work. When you outsource you add probably 20% to cost.

Yea, probably nothing as cutting edge as cash for clunkers.

Some more than others. If the agency is heavily involved in research, especially in a field of growing threat, a 10% reduction will have a negative impact.

I know you've lived through this... Eggs are good for you..... Eggs are bad for you.... Eggs are good for you.... Understand why science isn't always trusted?
Of course, but I also understand that it's ignorant to claim that cigarettes are not harmful, which many did long after the evidence was conclusive.
When to accept scientific evidence and with what degree of certainty is the issue.
There were those last few who believed the world was flat until their dying days.
There was once that dwindling group that maintained the Earth was the center of the universe.
There was that last "scientist" publicly claiming cigarettes were not harmful with a group willingly pointing to him as their proof.

I'll break it down for you hog,
The preamble provides the very basis for the Constitution. It carefully lays out exactly why the Constitution was created in the first place. The laws stand of the very principles given in the preamble.

Thanks for the link....here are the very first two sentences.

The preamble sets the stage for the Constitution (Archives.gov). It clearly communicates the intentions of the framers and the purpose of the document.
You know the states would not sign the Consitution until they had the BoR? Meaning your preamble was an introduction to an unsatisfactory base document.
