2020 Primaries

Bernie did not win Iowa. Pete won Iowa. And the night is young for Nevada.

The MSM declared Bernie the winner in Iowa by a small degree......sorry zep. Believe whatever you need to I guess.. But the facts are Sanders won Iowa by small % points.

MSM = main stream media....left-wing wacko media like CNN & NBC & ABC .....etc.

Pete won the Iowa caucus. Delegates are what matters, and Pete won the most delegates. They can talk about popular vote until they are blue in the face, but that isn't how the winner of the Iowa caucus is determined. Pete won Iowa. Period.

Phony boloney.......geezus dude.......take it up with the MSM who said otherwise over you...they're the only ones that matter. What's with you people always talking about a popular vote....it doesn't matter either.

That is what I just said. Popular vote does not matter in Iowa Democratic caucus, same as it doesn't matter in the Electoral College. Pete won the most delegates in Iowa. Pete won Iowa. Period. I don't care what Bernie says about popular vote in Iowa, he did not win Iowa.

And in honesty Bernie doesn't care either. He knows that Pete has gone as far as he is going

Most comical one liner of the 2020 primaries goes to Elizabeth Warren with - "...a billionaire who calls women fat broads and horse faced lesbians".

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) can claim to have won the popular vote in each of the first three early states in the Democratic Party presidential primary with his victory in Nevada on Saturday night.

It is the first time a candidate for any major party’s nomination has won the popular vote in all three of the first states.

Without even looking it up I would guess Trump and just about every other incumbent has done it every time.

Ok I try to avoid the politics forum as much as I can but what is everyone else thinking (not Trumpers, we know where you are at).

I think Bernie has it pretty strong, South Carolina likely to be a tie between him and Biden. But California and Texas will go for him I'm pretty sure.

Bloomberg can't debate nor run on his record.

Biden is uninspiring.

Warren did really well at the last debate but it may be too little too late.

Buttgieg is probably who is the biggest threat but he is struggling with the LGBT community not to mention other minoritiy communities(I don't think this is a media narrative).

Pete is not struggling with the LGBTQ+ community at all. And it is a media narrative that he is struggling with minority communities. He polls above everyone within minority communities not named Biden or Sanders. Pete won Iowa, came a close second and secured the same amount of delegates as Bernie in New Hampshire, and will likely come in second tonight in Nevada.

Dude I have many friends who are LGBT and literally not one is supporting Pete. Most are split between Bernie/Warren. One is backing Klobuchar.

And none of my black/Hispanic friends are backing Pete either.

The only friends I have backing Pete are a couple middle aged white women.

Which is completely different from my friends and family. I have many LGBTQ+ friends that are supporting Pete. So we shared anecdotal info, which doesn't mean anything really.

Bernie may very well win the nomination, but is that a good thing for Democrats? I don't think a die hard socialist beats Trump. The left waisted a lot of time on impeachment that they should have been using to find and build up a true contender. The focus should have been on 2020, but they decided to reach for an impeachment that was always doomed to fail. Honestly, I think Trump gets re-elected, and the left has no one to blame but themselves.

If the voters on the left elect Bernie as the nominee, then Trump will be guaranteed a second term. There will also be a Republican super majority that would result in the House and the Senate.

JMO, the Dems made a mistake letting Bernie into the party. He's always considered himself an independent until it comes time to run for President. Then he calls himself a Democrat. His popularity splits the party and forces it further left. I don't think Pete can overcome that split, or the popularity of Bernie on the liberal left. I think Bernie gets the nom, and Trump gets reelected. And honestly, if the choice is between Bernie and his socialist ideas, and Trump, I hope Trump does win. It's not that I like Trump, I don't, but I cannot support Bernie's socialist agenda. We're looking at another election of two poor candidates.

For the record regarding Iowa:

From the Des Moines Register on Friday:

The Associated Press has still not called a winner in the Iowa contest.

The Iowa Democratic Party will recount the presidential preference cards for 23 caucus precincts, it announced in a news release Friday afternoon.

https://www.desmoinesregister.com/s...-iowa-caucus-recount-63-precincts/4809764002/
Buttigieg initially requested that the party recount the cards from 54 of Iowa's nearly 1,700 precincts. His campaign did not include enough information to qualify for a recount for 17 of those precincts, and another 23 did not qualify because a recount would not have changed the delegate allocation, according to statement from the state party.

The two campaigns are virtually tied in state delegate equivalents, which are used to allocate Iowa's delegates to the Democratic National Convention. The convention is where the party's presidential nominee is formally selected. Under current reporting, Buttigieg holds a 14-12 lead in Iowa's national delegates over Sanders.

In its recount request, Sanders campaign officials identified about 1.7 state delegate equivalents that it believes were misallocated — enough to give Sanders final victory in Iowa, given Buttigieg's razor-thin lead of less than a tenth of a state delegate equivalent.

The state party's recanvass/recount committee expects to begin the process on Tuesday and for it to last two days, the party's news release said.

It would be a repeat of 2016. Bernie is a toxic candidate, same as Hillary was. Worse in a way, because of the Democratic socialism bit. Many people would stay home, or vote for Trump based on economic factors. And that will affect down ballot races of Democrats. The only thing worse than Bernie winning the nomination is Bloomberg winning.
I'm doing my best to get a solid candidate nominated for the Democratic party.

Or stealing it from Bernie?

I think they lose regardless of the impeachment inquiry but that all but ensured they looked 3rd grade. They have a terrible group of candidates.

Bernie is a bolshevik.

Biden is celebrating like he got 20% of the vote.

The rest besides Buttigieg is taking turns bringing up the rear. Buttigieg best states might be behind him.

Warren and Klobuchar will both take L's.

Bloomberg looks like a zombie on stage.

Steyer is on borrowed time.

If I'm Gabbard, I abandon this party.
