Not Calling a Timeout

It’s logical. If you pay a premium price you expect a premium product.

Actually, not caring at all about what your coach makes and being satisfied with mediocrity regardless of salary is illogical.

Just sayin.

The signing class of Walker, Springer, and Johnson is primo. Had Barnes left the roster would be looking more like Wade Houston's.

Lets just cancel the BB program, then the fan base could complain about not having a BB program. The irony of it all. What's best to complain about.

IMO it should come with both territories. That’s a lot of cash to underperform.

Give it another couple of years and $4-5MM will be on the low end for P-5/6 basketball coaches. TN actually came up with the $$s for once and for the first time have a Final Four and Hall of Fame head coach.

Comes with the territory. When you make $5M a year, you have to be able to take the criticism. Another problem is Pearl has owned Barnes lately. Ouch!

See, this is what kills me:

Barnes could be making 800k a year and y’all would still be throwing him under the bus. The whole $5M a year punch line is just an excuse.

Barnes should be thrown under the bus after his coaching malpractice today. To blow a 17 point lead with an NCAA tourney bid hanging out there and taking 2 timeouts home with him is pretty bad

Not true at all, this is a scapegoat for those who worship him. See Barnes played UT last year and had no intentions of staying here, he's said so publicly. Now he's the 2nd highest paid coach in the conference and should be held accountable. Regardless of what you think, it's not the fans fault, it's not the players fault this is Rick Barnes program.

Was he driving the bus when a 17 point lead was being built?

There was no need for Barnes to take a time out. What was he going to say? Hey guys, your about to see me get outcoached and beat by Pearl again.

I didn't know we were paying Barnes the 5th most money in college basketball to get owned by Bruce Pearl...but that's the reality. To be fair...Pearl is a GREAT coach...he just is. Today was shameful.

Pearl's coaching didn't win today; we beat ourselves.

As much as I've defended Barnes, he lost me a bit today. You 100% call a timeout during that. Everyone with a pulse could see we were wilting. I don't give a damn if a media timeout was coming, and it's not like we were coming down and getitng good looks and just missing. We were coming down and throwing the ball away. You could literally see the panic coming over the team. And his post game answer was just bull****.

And I hate to say it but we're at the point of the season that either Barnes is doing a bad job communicating to these guys what they need to do, or we have one of the dumbest teams we've had in a very long time. How many mother effin' unforced turnovers are we going to have? Fulkerson throws it to no one, Pons RUNS INTO JJJJ bringing the ball up and turns is over. That HORSESH** should NOT be happening this point in the season.

Sorry, but Barnes deserves all the criticism thrown at him today. He did a very poor job in the second half.

Tough one to take, we get the Bowden we were hoping for, then Fulky doesn't have his head into it. Even at the end we had a chance, Pons had two short ones go down and rim out.

I wasn't at all comfortable with the 17 point lead. But I can see that calling a time out would have also given Auburn yet another chance to pressure an inbounds pass and wouldn't help to shorten the game. I think that part of the philosophy was to keep it close while burning clock and having a chance to win at the end. Every move has pluses and minuses. Barnes tried to let them play through it. It didn't work out.
