So if an NFL analyst or former NFL player tells you that they don’t think a player is very good, you would disregard it because you happened to watch the games as well? I don’t get that. And it’s not that I think Maurer is the savior. We know what we have in the others. JG is inconsistent and a head case. The coaches don’t trust JT and has not shown much. You don’t know what you have fully yet with Maurer as he needed a year to get bigger and develop. He could still be very good. My hope Bailey is every bit the five star QB and takes the job day one.
that's fine and all.........and they loaded up this cycle.LSU is always gonna lock down their state tho so that makes that job was easier. So they are going to be top of the conference roster wise virtually every year. Just have to get solid QB play to win 10 games.

i'm not saying they're going to fall to ark levels or anything.....but consistent playoff/national title contender? that may be off the board.
LSU should probably have a 9 win floor most any year, no matter the coaches.
Fighting for JG to lead your team as QB is just a weird hill to die on. It’s like banging the table for mark sanchez to be your QB Bc the jets won some games with him.
maybe the west just goes back to like it was before saban got there, and the big 3 in the east run the SEC for a while?Yea but i think saban probably leaves bama in the next 2-3 years so then who else do you trust to control the west? I thought Jimbo would be a power at aTm, which he still might but it’s not looking that way
I agree i think we will be fine regardless, but it’s silly to say Maurer didn’t flash more talent than JG last year... even as a 160lb true freshman. Maurer was never the same after his concussion/neck injury. Maybe it was injury, maybe it was gunshy after that idk but i would prefer to not lose a QB that proved he can make big plays at the SEC level just yet. There's a difference between JG is the guy and pointing out the team as a whole will be fine without Maurer a backup who never finished a game.

Pretty sure Bass or someone pointed that out during the gameView attachment 256230
Not sure I noticed this before but the Hyatt’s in the end zone enjoying the game.
Hope so. I also believe JP and Chaney has seen enough of JG that they hope Bailey will grab the reins and start. This whole JG conversation is irrelevant anyway at this point. We just got in a 5 star QB to pair with a hopefully healthy and bigger Maurer if either one of them, specifically Bailey, are halfway legit... they will be our QB.
I don't want to lose anyone from the team. The character built in this past season and the resilience shown is something you want there when the new guys get on campus.
But you know as well as anyone it's a team game. JG can't catch all the blame every time we lose, and get none of the credit when we win. But "flashes" or not, Maurer never did anything more impressive than JG's 3rd quarter at Kentucky this year.
I think the biggest difference is JG is entering year 5 and he's still not got it figured out. Maurer looked like a freshman playing too soon. He's got time to get better and very well could be better than JG when it's all said and done, it just likely isn't going to happen at UT.
