Bama

I think Alabama is a well oiled machine but other teams have caught up with them. I hate Alabama.
Gap has definitely closed to some extent between Bama and a handful of SEC teams. Not saying the Tide isn’t still the cream of the crop, but I don’t think you can just pencil em in for 12-0 and a trip to the SECCG like the last decade. There are several teams that can threaten them this year and give em a game, and Tennessee is one of them imo....despite the fact that Guarantano is still on the roster.

TN should be in position to compete for the win in every single game on the schedule next season. I don't mean that we will be favored in every one or that we will win every one, but we should be able to go into every game feeling like if we play our best and get a break or two then we have the chance to win. It's been awhile since I looked at the schedule and didn't see what I considered to be all but lost causes in some games, Bama especially. I don't see an absolute certain loss on the upcoming seasons schedule and that's a good feeling. I still think we are another season and recruiting class away from a championship level squad, but I like the direction we're headed.

I agree but I think it’s the 2022 season till we compete for the SEC East and SEC title

There is little doubt that we will play Bama going into the game undefeated, we will leave the same way---CJP has us on a roll, the players have all bought into the program, we have recruited (CJP) lights out-I'm smelling a NATY. We aren't just headed in the right direction, we are the direction, this will be CJP's third year-we all know what that means-look out, UT is going to be back in the biggest of ways.

We had em on the ropes at Tuscaloosa last season before JG went all JG and gave any chance we had to pull off the upset.

We’ll be better next year, have more depth. Bama will surely be good and we’ll very likely be a solid home underdog, but the gap won’t be as big as you’re portraying here imo. They they’ll have drop offs at offensive skill positions, QB and WR specifically.

Certainly wouldn’t predict that we’ll beat them in 2020, but portraying it as Bama having insurmountable advantages....nah, I don’t think so. Obviously, we’ll need an upgrade at QB to legitimately have a real shot to beat em this year, so somebody has gotta beat Guarantano out for that to happen.

Just stop it. We were never beating Bama last year even if we scored the TD. All that is is just yet more ammo to bash the QB who led us to 8 wins.

We need much, much more than an upgrade at QB to beat Bama. Whomever starts for us at QB against Bama is irrelevant. We will lose by 17+ and it likely won’t be that close.

You blab on on as if you know this as fact when you don't. Certainly no guarantee that we would have beaten Bama regardless of whether JG didn't screw the pooch or not, but it would have made it a tight ballgame and then anything could have happened. I personally think Bama probably still wins, but we'll never know now will we. Bama was the better team, doesn't automatically give them the win though.
You already having TN losing by 17 or more for a game being played next season just makes you look like a fool. Your prediction could be right, but then it could be a million miles off. I look forward to seeing it's outcome in when the Tide comes to town.

Thanks for the opinion. Thats what makes this board great. I already have us losing because I just dont think we are there yet. I sure hope I am wrong. I would love nothing more for us to beat the brakes off of Saban and if we do, I will be the first one in here to eat a big bowl of fried crow.

Woulda beat FL last year with a competent QB.
Not true. We played our worst overall team game of the year vs Fl. We clearly had some locker room issues going on as well considering Coach Pruitt ran off 4 or 5 guys the very next day. Team play did a 180 after Pruitt's big team meeting following the FL fiasco. Also, anyone claiming we'd have beat Bama with better QB play is a miss too I feel. The penalty on Taylor on 3rd down on the roughing the passer call was the critical play of the Alabama game. Without that call Al was in trouble and I feel like we could have taken the lead had that bs call not been made.

While I do think some of ya'll might want to pump the brakes just a little I do have to agree Bama is losing a ton this year. They have numerous #1 recruiting classes to fall back on but it is hard to imagine they do not step back some. If we have a reliable QB I could see this as a win and I guarantee I will rush the field and help take the goal posts down. I pity the security officer who tries to stop me.
Smack him on his rear and see what happens.

Really? You have us losing by 17+ NEXT year?

With a competent QB to start the season we would have been 3-0 rolling into FL. We would have been clicking and would have had our D back together. We come out of the O&W game with BM running the team, we have 9-10 reg season wins.

I’m optimistic next year but I suggest you stay off the weed or moonshine or whatever else may be effecting your logic. Unless this was a blue font.

Lots of woulda coulda shoulda in that statement.

If "if and buts" were candy and nuts we would be living in California. QB play was the biggest problem we had on offense all year. However, if we had played decent defense in either of the first two games, we would have won ten games last year. In 2020, we will have a much better defense and a much more consistent offense. However, that does not mean we will win more games than we won in 2019. We are not yet ready to beat Alabama and Georgia. Oklahoma and Florida will favored by 9-11 points and will very difficult to beat. If were finish the regular season 8-4, no telling what bowl game we would make and that game would likely be a toss up. If HB turns out to be as good as he looks on film, he may be worth an extra win or two, maybe Florida and/or Oklahoma. I think 2021 will be the beginning of very good teams at Tennessee. If it comes in 2020, so much the better.

Those wanting to blame Jg for Bama are dumb. The false starts and holds in the redzone and the phantom call when we had Bama off guard are the bigger factors.
