If, Hamilton can land Gruden or Cowher. In my book, he should be AD as long as he wants. Either of them will return our program to elite status very quickly.

Yes, I have a source. But, people don't believe me because all of the other rumors. And, because I am a junior member with very few posts, LOL. My source is a friend in the media. The announcement could come anytime between tomorrow and before the UK game.

Man, I hope we get Gruden or Cowher. If not, Leach or Patterson are my next two choices. All four of them run circles around Fulmer.

i hope it's sooner rather than later. i believe it would be in the best interest if the announcement is within the week. hopefully your source is correct. no offense.

This is not my source. My source is someone in the media in Tennessee. But, this appears to be another indication it is coming soon.

For those of you who laugh at my media source. Because, I am a junior member with very few posts. The below info from the Chattanooga Press says it all. Why do you think a lot of the players where crying? They know Fulmer lost his job! Why did Hamilton say he was showing respect for Fulmer and declined further comment? Hamilton doesn't want to kick Fulmer when Fulmer is down.

Fulmer is gone for sure!!! He will announce his retirement before the Vandy or UK game. :mf_surrender:

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The University of Tennessee football program has sunk dangerously close to historically low levels.

Saturday night featured South Carolina’s first double-digit lead on the Volunteers since the Gamecocks joined the Southeastern Conference in 1992, and the final score was 27-6.

A Tennessee season that started in the Top 25 poll is dangerously close to ending well before December. Saturday’s loss leaves the Vols perilously close to a second losing season in four years. Only an unbeaten run through the final three games will avoid that fate.

Tears were a common sight in and around the UT locker room after the game. Players, coaches, families, administrators, trainers and equipment managers struggled to contain their emotions — some better than others.

Most didn’t have wet faces, but dry eyes were hard to find.

“A lot of hurt feelings in there,” Vols coach Phillip Fulmer said. “This is not the way Tennessee is supposed to be. This is not what (the players) came here for.”

Flustered athletic director Mike Hamilton sat in the back of the room for Fulmer’s postgame news conference, and he politely declined comment while leaving the stadium.

“Showing some respect for Phillip tonight,” Hamilton said.

Now, All of you that made fun of me. I told you three days ago. I learned from someone in the media. That Fulmer was gone. I just didn't know they would announce it so soon. He said, he thought it would be in the next two or three weeks.

I'm not sure how you could say that you are happy that Coach Fulmer is gone. Was it time for him to go yes, but how can you be happy about it? To me this is a very sad day for Tennessee Football.

Laugh all you want, complain all you want. He may not get the job but I can promise you Brady Hoke of Ball State will be on the list before it is all said and done. He will interview. Track the plane, it will show up in Muncie, IN

It is a very positive day for UT football. Fulmer was dead weight. Yes, I will ALWAYS be appreciative for the job he did early in his career. But, even in 1998 the players made plays. It wasn't the coaching.

If, Tee Martin doesn't scramble for 30 yards to set up Hall's field goal vs Syracuse, Al Wilson doesn't cause three fumbles vs Florida, and Billy Ratliff doesn't knock offensive lineman into Clint Stoerner of Arkansas. We don't win title in 1998. Those three players weren't taught those actions by FULMER.

Did he help recruit them, yes. But, even Fulmer's recruiting classes dropped off significantly lately. Don't be fooled in this current class. It has a lot more to do with Drayton, Scott, and Clawson, not Fulmer.

You are clueless. It is a great day for UT football. We will get a much better coach who will compete versus Florida, Alabama, and Georgia!!!!!!! :clapping:

A little disappointed that you didn't carry it a bit further. I mean, how many of those players did Fulmer sire? He can't take credit for them having the talent they did and making plays if he wasn't involved in birthing them, right?

But I'm sure he's the reason Erik Ainge threw that pick against LSU in the SEC CG or even the turnovers against LSU in '01 championship game. He's definitely not the reason Peerless Price caught 4 balls for 199 yards against FSU though. He definitely didn't make Travis Stephens run around and through Gator defenders in 01 did he. That's a very weak argument. It's obvious that you are very excited that CPF is gone, but don't try to rob him of his accomplishments at our University.
