I hope their stats include the entire season, and good and the bad-otherwise, they are just trash.I think this throws out the improvement in the line. Maybe they only watched the first half of our season when JG was running for his life and made their decision but anyone who watched the second half of the season and the improvement at line should have been impressed. I would, based on the entire body of work, put our line in at least the top 50 and probably middle of the SEC over Ole Miss, State, South Carolina, Kentucky, Vandy and even A&M (their offensive line was their big weakness). Hopefully we are just a few years away from the big uglies like Georgia and Bama have.
Yes sir! Next season-that's the ticket, I'm smelling a NATY.Our OL was not good this year. There were moments when things clicked, but not consistent enough to compete with the big boys. Hopefully experience and another year in the weight room will lead to improvement. They were young, so no reason to think they can't get better.
PFF Rankings: College starting quarterback rankings for 2019 | College Football and NFL Draft | PFFLink? The last PFF ranking I saw about Tano had him in the 80s or something.
Thanks for the input and conversation.
JG was hyped in the preseason by PFF and they listed him only behind Tua. The whole thing is flawed, because while JG completion % looked really nice he hardly had any productionPreseason 21. That's what your link said. Post season, in the 80s. Tano struggled badly this year, and PFF reflects that in final rankings. You didn't make a great case right there.
Last year he threw for 12 TD's, this year he threw for 16. That's not much production, last year he averaged 158 YPG and this year he averaged 166 YPG so again thats not much production
JG simply isnt a good QB. Get over it.
HE THREW 3 PICKS IN A ROW IN THE BOWL GAME. Was late and missed 2 TDs in the 1st half. Was called out on all of those by a former NFL QB. Tough kid. Not an SEC passer. He just isnt. 16 TDs in 13 freaking games is terrible production. Terrible. Quit making excuses for a 22 year old. Wake up and quit lying to yourself. Wow.
We beat Kentucky because that is what we are supposed to do. Besides that though the fact that teams stacked the box against them knowing what they were doing and couldn't stop them. That's impressive and a sign of great development of lineman. You have to give them that.We beat 'em head to head and they ended up twith he same record as we had. Were they better than LSU's OL? They weren't even asked to pass block hardly. C'mon man, 5th in the country? Again, IMO this is bunk.
Run blocking was often very mediocre, but pass protection was very good overall. JG holds the ball until the one receiver he is tracking is wide open, then waits a half second after that then throws. He usually had a lot of time, however.
