Maurer’s Instagram Post

Change what narrative?

Go back and read the post where I called you out.

You said "those gameplans cannot coexist"......did you or did you not?

If your contention is what you said.....and they game plan for one....by your statement....they cannot game plan for the other.

Therefore. By your statement IF they plan for JG they DO NOT plan for Brian.

So was your initial comment wrong or was your follow up wrong?
Read post 551. It apples to you to now.

No one game plans for JG. At all. He literally does nothing special.

Litterally answers none of what I asked related to the post I called you out on.

Nice try.

But it's my turn to drive and we are in Atlanta so I'm out for a while

I think that will hurt the team...trying spread reps doesnt allow a team to gel...QBs and WR need reps to get timing down...QBs throw very different balls

You dont spread reps until you definitely know who guy is you have qbs leaving to quickly

Do I really have to answer that? You can attend practice as a #2 all week. Throw routes on air and prep with the 2s and that’s as ready as you’ll get. But it goes even farther than that. When you have conflicting styles between your #1 and #2 one can’t effectively operate the others game plan. Therefore practice being tailored to #1 essentially means #2 is unprepared. Ask yourself how effective you’d expect Tom Brady to be in Lamar Jackson’s offense.
Really I didn’t see a difference in play calling or actual plays with any of the qbs, except JJ. What differences did you notice?

I think that is his point. BM is a much different QB than JG and would have required a complete different game plan.

I for one refuse to believe that BM was the starter and the game plan was tailored to JG but who knows.

CJC offense is multiple and each qb may have the same play called and do different things based on what the defense is doing.

If you look back pre UGA you’ll see more bunch formations and a 60/40 (ish) run to pass ratio. Once BM took over vs UGA the offense was more spread out and 40/60 run to pass ratio. The play calling was also a more downfield aggressive attack. Most recently (post concussion) it’s seemed to have evened out a little more and closer to 50/50.

I’ve seen mostly the same formations all season and to me it seems we have been 2 to 1 run to pass consistently. The only game I remember being close to even was Missouri, we threw a lot in that game. When BM was in the game I felt like we ran more, except at the beginning of the Miss St game when we came out throwing. Most of this is due to what the defense was doing.

Hard to say who would be correct in this conversation because let’s face it. Neither of us are going to go back and watch every game to count passes vs runs, formation differences ext. Maybe you feel otherwise but I feel in the beginning we were more spread out with BM in vs JG and we threw the ball much more. One thing I think we all can agree on though is we definitely attacked downfield and over the middle much more.

IMHO, without re-watching all games and counting, I think Maurer was allowed to scramble/take off running much more than JG. That is a play calling difference. After the concussions, that too changed.

Shouldn’t admit this but I already have watched every game multiple times. Paused, frame by frame, it’s pathetic really because I’m not getting paid. Im just a football nerd.

I have as well because I’m the same way. I mean we’re not going to spend an entire weekend to rewatch them all for the purposes of formations and run/pass ratio.

But they do. UK, USCe, and Mizzou failed to do so very well. All three have more talent on D than IU... but IU did many of the same things to JG that GSU did. You can give him the quick read... he's not going to make it. So you back off and delay then tighten up in that 2 to 3 second window when JG is comfortable throwing. Since he has to "see it" first... just be close enough to close up when he looks in your direction.

He makes WR talent worse.

BM gives us the same threat that Ramsey gave IU last night. Stats or not, the eye test proves it. He immediately makes our offense lethal when he comes in. Does sometimes, Yes, has he had 3 years to stop making those same mistakes and yet keeps making them, NO.

What glasses you looking thru? Against Indiana he threw the ball 4 times and three should have been picks. After throwing in double and triple coverage 3 times in 2 minutes the Coaches had seen enough. If he can't complete passes you think stacking the box is an option for teams playing against us. All the Coaches agree JG gave us our best chance to win but still the nega -JGs on here know more...Good lord!!

A lot of these conversations... detach from truth and become a matter of "who's in my club".

I criticized JG. I criticized him more because he's a 4th year player... and because of some of his cult followers. He has issues. I thought he was overcoming them... but that seems to have just been an aberration like the Auburn game was last year. The Vandy and IU games strongly suggest any improvement in those weaknesses was not nearly enough.

That said, Maurer was not ready and while having some success early... he makes too many mistakes in judgment and needs to manage the O better. In a weird twist, I think he is TOO quick to make decisions which is the opposite of JG. BM thinks he sees things and throws... only for them not to be there. JG is nearly blind when it comes to anticipating throws. One guy "needs glasses"... the other can't see.

Maurer has potential but that's all it is right now. Potential. If he works hard, learns the O, eliminates bad judgment.... then he has a really good chance of unseating JG. But he needs to improve A LOT before a coach should replace even a bad veteran with him. I like that he takes chances but you just can't put the ball in danger as often as he does.
