The Official Tennessee vs. Louisiana State Game Thread, 12:00 PM ET, ESPNU

His time is coming with the NCAA...Right now they (NCAA) have too much on their plate. Wade and LSU will be on probation maybe next year. His violations (tapes don't lie) are in plain sight

how did Wade dodge this must have a little teflon mafia in him, nothing sticks.
Bruce & Donnie should go to a Wade screwing NCAA seminar

I keep wondering if Barns is really worth the cash that was put up to keep him. I know we needed stability, but I simply haven't completely bought in on the guy. Obviously, he's good at building a program, but he doesn't seem like the kind of coach that take UT to a championship without a roster stacked full of talent.

Edit: have replaced by haven't

I didn’t think we would win but we were actually slightly favored to win this game by Vegas, as a matter of fact we were favored to win the Memphis, cincy and Wisconsin games as well.. generally Vegas isn’t this consistently off on a team, seems strange.

That's because we have tanked. We were actually playing pretty good earlier in the year. LSU has just been average too. We have seemed to awaken most teams lately.

Vescovi ended up being our leading rebounder and even w/ all the TOs, our 3rd-most efficient player today. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see him emerging as our best freshman this year.

You described every coach ever. You need a stacked team (in some sense) to win a championship since all other good teams are stacked.

Just think, without Vescovi we don’t get out of the 40’s again this game
Yeah Vescovi is going to be a good player. His first game, has been on campus for a week and he was our leading scorer. He will learn to be more careful with the ball. Heck Turner had a ton of turnovers in earlier games this year and he was a 5th year senior, so we need to temper expectations with Vescovi as he will make mistakes. I can’t wait to watch him in the next game.

Texas fans would agree with you.
However, he’s the best we’ve had since Bruce.
Now, whether that’s worth $5m a year or not is debatable.

Well, when you take some previous recruiting classes off......

People hate to hear it, but it's true.
He learned his lesson though. Got after it in recruiting by loading this team up for future. Not just next year but several players future looks bright. Keep going after the big fish.

Lol. No coach can win a championship without a roster full of talent. Seriously, look at all of the previous title teams.

Tennessee can't play physical. Period. LSU is physical. If officials let them play (tn first free throw 11:25! Left in game. Physical play, referees let them play= tn loss. No grant williams this year.

We will lose in the same manner that teams did when they played us last year. You are right. Teams will beat us up inside all year long. They should be fine allowing us to keep shooting 3s. It should be a damning stat when you make 13 three pointers, shooting 50%, and lose by 14.. That was our best game outside the perimeter and we got walloped!

I don’t understand it at alllllllllll. You even have fans throwing money at the players, like dang. And refs and announcers are treating him just like every other coach
Has the NCAA done anything? This dude is on tape talking about paying players but the NCAA cares more about keeping Plavsic off the court

Fulk does, he pretty much is grit
Fulky should be our primary option in a half court set. He doesn’t get nor take enough shots. But he needs to do his part and demand the ball more. Due to lack of strength he gets pushed around and seems to tire quickly.

Didn’t he and Smart get suspended for a few games last year? I think that may have been directly from LSU though and not NCAA.

So why do you let almost 2 minutes go by not fouling or even giving the appearance of trying to get back in the game and then with under a minute start fouling when there in zero chance of pulling it out ?
Or drive for the basket with 6 fouls (and we had none)

I hate losing, but do think the new guy is going to be a good one. Wish Bowden would get out of his funk.

He puts in so much effort he wears out significantly faster than the other guys on the court who do well at guarding their max effort a bit. That’s why he’s so gritty. Leads to Nkamhoua playing a lot

that's what I'm alluding too! Why else would any recruit want to play for a coach embroiled with NCAA allegations and is on a tight leash? It makes absolutely no sense.
if they grew up loving LSU I guess

Edit: Misread your post originally

Seriously...outside of ones own moral and ethical code...what’s the penalty for cheating in college basketball today??
UNC has never paid for its crimes. LSU is seemingly fine. Meanwhile, we can’t get Uros eligible??

I hope when Barnes retires he rats out every coach on the way out that he knows has cheated and done things the wrong way.

We’re going to be ok once vescovi learns the offense. I’m salivating at how good we’ll be next year.
Will be exciting for sure, but we will still lack post play. Hate to say it but Jalen Johnson needs to graduate and go play elsewhere. We need another post player and he will never play with the class we have coming in.
