This is exactly why State shouldn't have fired Moorehead when they did. I know they didn't get along and people will say it was 'cultural' or what have you but the truth is that State thinks that the two good seasons and several mediocre ones they had under Mullen suddenly made them elite. They have totally forgotten that they were Vanderbilt pre-Mullen and now they're Vanderbilt post-Franklin. Yes, they can have good seasons and even an exceptional one now and then but they are still Mississippi State. It will take far more than Mullen's tenure (which is frankly over-blown because they are State) to transform them into something else. If I were an up and comer, there's no way I'd take the State job -- they have the expectations of Alabama and the resources of Mississippi State combined with an SEC schedule. I'd take a non-SEC job (even a more obscure one that didn't pay as much but was more prepared to support a coach) and wait until a favorable p5 job came open.
Now you're just taking shots at Vandy and I like that. Truth be told Vandy is way ahead of MS State in every facet of being a University.

Good stuff and this AM, folks. Love the passion and the posts. I'll try not to speak too loud for utvols88 and his hangover. Oh whatever - GO VOLS!!! Have a cup of joe, I mean Dr. Pepper.

What some fans miss is that the erratic QB play that gets you benched mid-game causes your team to miss scoring opportunities, like TD's instead of FG's or no points at all despite good field position; and is what creates the panic in the 4th quarter when you are getting beat by inferior teams. I get that the QB situation is what it has been, but it does not have to be that way anymore. Going forward, hand the reins to HB immediately. His job to lose. Chaney got it done with Fromm as a true freshman, he can with HB. If JG wants to stay he becomes the relief pitcher, which is what he actually does well.

Henry T deserves the D game ball. What a performance. Thank you for choosing the orange, HT.

Thanks for the memories if you go to the NFL, Trey. Proud you wore the orange along with JJ, Quez, Nigel, and the rest of the seniors who gave it all they had to turn the mess around. Will never forget what you guys did.

Kudos to Kennedy. Performed well after such a short recovery from the knee surgery. Kudos to Locklear - best game as a Vol. The O-line is going to be special for awhile. Big and talented.

Gray - wow. Now develop the hammer in the backfield from Whitehead or Hodge so Crouch can stay focused on D. IMO, JJP is a bust at this point, still lost as a goose out there. Eason will probably move past him in short order. WR is in really good shape going forward.

I will go over on the 2.5 coaches for no particular reason. May be some git shirts coming for the staff.

The signees coming in are the best class we have seen in years. Real football players. The type that builds a program that is sustainable. The future is bright.
How is it possible for the over on coaches leaving to be at 2.5? Are we gonna cut someone in half or is someone gonna coach half of our games and then leave? Asking for a friend.

You must not gamble. Halves mean that you won’t “push” or select the exact number. This way, you have to choose the over or the under, and one will win.

In fairness, notice that I said "the resources of Mississippi State" rather than the resources of Vandy. Vanderbilt has resources and uses every bit of them in baseball and when it comes to being a university in general Vanderbilt and State aren't on the same planet, imo. Truth be told, State doesn't have much going for it beyond a good and loyal fanbase, a lot of good people, and some great cheese.

My thought on the snap infraction :

We did the gimmicky thing where you run to the line to make it seem urgent. Most of the time that is a decoy for drawing them offsides. The ball placement along with the entire offensive line lining up offsides makes me think we were trying to make it look like the defensive line was in the neutral zone to increase our chances of getting a favorable call for offsides. There is no way in hell we were going for it with a 2 point lead on our own side of the field.

Yeah, Catbone completely no-showed with jo reason why, except the girl on his hip. Guess he was scared to prove he is who he says he is, although @SSVol did vouch for him.

Just now got back home.

It was @Catbone I saw. Our tickets were apparently in the same area, and I saw him and his gf again on the ramp up, this time was able to speak to him. He was quite pleasant. His gf was real, did not have a pronounced Adam's apple or freakishly large hands, and was also quite pleasant. Wife commented on how cute a couple they were. There's hope for the boy.
