To Protect and to Serve II

is this a joke??
have you missed all the social media fake stories from different people claiming someone wrote something bad on a coffee or receipt or napkin?

black waitress, old man, gay couple, pregnant waitress, deaf person, person with service animal, etc.

That's why i never believe any social media story no matter who says it without evidence

Relax and maybe read it again? The point is that specifically only protected classes get that kind of treatment. We are asking ourselves why are cops a protected class? The idea of protecting classes, like it or not, is to safeguard those that can't protect themselves and cops have a lot more power than average Joes.

Allow me relay my cops are a protected class story. One fine day about 20 years ago I was heading home after work and got passed by probably 20 police cars absolutely screaming down a 2 lane road. I couldn't imagine what they were headed to but I assumed it was a major crime scene. Once I got home and turned on the TV I see where the local news folks are covering a manhunt for a person that allegedly stabbed a police officer. They had over 100 police cars and 2 helicopters looking for the suspect that had stabbed the officer in the leg. Once the dust settled it turned out that the "hero" stabbed himself in the leg with his pocket knife and was just looking for glory. Also when my wife was headed home a car wrecked in front of her and every cop blew by like nothing while a woman had to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
Every time I hear the word hero and cop I shake my head.

I think the officer who stabbed himself looking for glory is an idiot but that doesn’t mean the police’s search for his alleged attacker isn’t justified.
and on your second story, what do you mean? “Every cop” blew by who, the traffic accident scene? How do you know what the police were doing and how many is “every cop”?

When i worked for the city, i (and other city workers) were paid out of the revenue part of the Knoxville City Government Budget. Not all of that is tax revenue generated, in fact actual city taxes go to the project side, while regular government revenue and incentives make up the majority of the rest of the budget. Now you could argue my old pension was funded by taxpayer money more than my salary was, but it's all in detail within the City budget

How does govt make revenue?

Bail Reform: Mayor De Blasio Defends Giving Freed Prison Inmates Gifts For Appearing In Court As 'A Smart Policy'

This is what liberal criminal reform looks like. Using taxpayer money to give gift cards and MLB tickets to criminals to beg them to show up for court...lol
I have a better idea. Lets not ask any of the non-violent drug offenders to go to court at all. That way, our courts and prisons are only dealing with real criminals like robbers, killers and fraudsters.

You do realize your drug addicts make up a large percentage of killers and robbers and thieves rights?

Bankers. Almost never post in this thread but let me make this clear:

EVERY single banker/executive/CEO/lender/responsible person for lending mortgages to people with sheit credit and no income and moreso for bundling all those sheit mortgages and selling them to peoples 401ks and pension funds should have gotten a FEDERAL LIFE SENTENCE for crashing the economy and wrecking millions of peoples savings and retirements, including mine. Fed time. Mandatory 85% served...bout 17 years. Day for damm day for every single one of them.

THAT would be justice. THAT would actually keep it from happening again. Did you know that aside from never punishing the people responsible and in some cases actually giving them even MORE money....the lenders are doing the same thing again??? Right now in fact. They dont call them "subprime loans" this time...they call them "off prime loans " and it is the same crap. If they are allowed to bundle thousands of these loans into an "investment" again, and the same bullcrap happens again...I just might go postal myself and go take out some wallstreet CEOS. Maybe that will put an end to this bullsheit...maybe.

If I go in my neighbors savings account and take 1500 bucks...that's felony grand larceny among other felonies depending on how I went about it...I go to prison for years. But if a wallstreet CEO steals the ENTIRE RETIREMENT of millions of neighbors...what happens? He makes millions. Gets a big bonus and a golden parachute if he ever gets fired. Millions on millions. Let wallstreet rob the American people blind again. There are more people just like me that wont take it again. Hide and watch.

Hopefully, the police will round up these fraudsters with the same zeal that they go after reefer smokers and panhandlers...

You need to talk to a therapist. Also larceny doesn’t exist in Tennessee. Also you are arguing for murder as a punishment for theft and fraud.

Usually one in the same. Not all drug users are killers, robbers, and rapers but most killers, robbers, and rapers are drug users.

Knox County Sheriff - Inmate Population

Rasputin, please point out all the people who are currently in jail in Knox County and who should be released.
Seems like the most violent are left in there right now after they worked on the overcrowding problem this fall.

Pretrial release program offers solution to jail overcrowding

"We need to look at ways to figure out who are the folks that are not a danger to the community, who are going to be on probation anyway, and/or who are going to come back to court and look at letting those folks out under supervision," Sword said. "We also need to know who is a threat to the community and who if we let them out, if they lower their bond to an extent they get out, are not going to come back to court."

The latest data from the Tennessee Department of Correction shows 72 percent of the Knox County detention center inmates are awaiting trial.

Nearly a third of them are charged with misdemeanors. Though pretrial release will not be an option for everyone, Sword hopes it can have a positive effect on the county's chronic overcrowding issue.
