To Protect and to Serve II

Well, there is a slight difference... or actually 2 differences between cops and most other professions. First off, LEOs have the power to not only put your freedoms and property in jeopardy, but they also have your life in their hands. Secondly, the Thin Blue Line has successfully made themselves a protected class in this country, where they are granted victim status privileges that are not usually extended to other citizens.
Speaking of professions... I asked what you did a few posts back.

is this a joke??
have you missed all the social media fake stories from different people claiming someone wrote something bad on a coffee or receipt or napkin?

black waitress, old man, gay couple, pregnant waitress, deaf person, person with service animal, etc.

That's why i never believe any social media story no matter who says it without evidence

One difference is that those people are identified afterwards. But for some reason, the Thin Blue Line is protecting this officers identity. Again, an example of special privileges extended to cops that isn't given to average citizens.

when someone is fired, the company doesnt always have to identify them to the media. Who cares who he is? Do you believe that if you get fired for doing something stupid, your company should broadcast out to everyone? Do you think that happens regularly? When i have someone call me for a reference of a former subordinate, i have brief HR type statements that acknowledge they worked for me and if i would hire them again. That's a normal process in business no matter who you are

ALSO those people were identified because THEY came to the media and made up the story...this idiot lied to his co workers and they pushed it further than he wanted and he got busted...now he is gone for good...

What you are saying makes total sense... had this entire drama not played itself out in social media. Had the officer (or any other employee) done anything not involving social media and possible deformation/libel charges, you would be correct.

Sounds like the herd got rid of a weak link.

that's why staying away from social media in the professional realm is a good idea. He made it up for attention or who knows why with his coworkers, it picked up steam and someone posted on Facebook or somewhere to "get" that place, and then the local news made it a big deal, because the media mines facebook and twitter for nearly 75% of their "stories" because they are lazy, by then the dumb*ss couldnt go back on his lie...pretty cut and dry

ok, again, that was one moron from small redneck county...i've never seen an officer do any of those things in 20 plus years in the profession...i hope he's thrown in jail for all of it
Hamilton is the fourth largest county in the state. And I don't see what the size of the county has to do with being a good cop.

Then who pays the salary?

When i worked for the city, i (and other city workers) were paid out of the revenue part of the Knoxville City Government Budget. Not all of that is tax revenue generated, in fact actual city taxes go to the project side, while regular government revenue and incentives make up the majority of the rest of the budget. Now you could argue my old pension was funded by taxpayer money more than my salary was, but it's all in detail within the City budget

You do understand government has no money of it’s own, right? It’s all tax (stolen) money.

you do realize that ALL of government budget just doesn't come straight from taxes right?
Lawd have mercy! In order for the government to give something, they must first take it from someone else. Dress it up however you want, taxation has always been and will always be theft.

I know in my county the gubment went into manufacturing widgets and started a successful eBay marketing business so as to not require all of their money to come from taxes.
