I don’t think we’re at a point in our program where we can waste spots on a long shot. If there’s a special QB that’s leaving another school I have to wonder about the reason. We actually considered Minshew and I was all for it at the time. We also took George and Brandon Davis in that class. Different points. If there’s a clear homerun QB that wants to sign on, then the coaches might jump. Doubt they take a flyer on a long shot.
Keywords in that post was “good teams”. JG gives us a ceiling. Do you honestly think he’s got the game to take us to 8,9, or 10 wins despite losing his top 3 pass catchers? Honestly?
Pass rusher... Biggest need. We don't "need"another qb.We need a QB. Most likely We’re going to lose at least one of the QBs that played last year. Kasim hill is a fullback.
So that leaves you with some combination of:
-Mediocre at best JG
-injury prone but promising BM
-Shrout Coaches don’t want
- True freshman
Do we really need another DB or DT? Lol
Burrow, fields, minshew, Murray just to make a few. No one knew who minshew was. Fields was looked at as a pouting baby who couldn’t beat out fromm,
I’m talking CURRENTLY. Not ones you can go back and revisionist second guess. What hot shot QB is stuck behind another and is eligible to GT? Once again if there’s truly a special case, I trust the coaches to explore the possibilities. Really don’t believe they’re reserving the spot. Chryst was a needed depth move and Pruitt still regrets that decision imo. Minshew went with the Mad Passing Scientist and did well for himself...just like the guy who replaced him. Not every Graham Harrell works for every program.Burrow, fields, minshew, Murray just to make a few. No one knew who minshew was. Fields was looked at as a pouting baby who couldn’t beat out fromm,

This is what I’m saying. I just disagree with the people who think we’re good to go with Guarantano at QB. Give him credit for turning his season around, but I’m still not that confident he can be what we need consistently. There’s a reason why Pruitt and Chaney are kicking the tires with the idea.We need a QB. Most likely We’re going to lose at least one of the QBs that played last year. Kasim hill is a fullback.

He was still coming back from injury and was a true freshmen who needed a year to redshirt and get bigger. Offense actually moved with him and we never score without him against UGA. JG struggled against every good defense he played. A year to get bigger and learn from Chaney and you don’t think he can make a big leap? You can see his promise and arm talent. Didn’t you say Hilinski was the best freshmen QB at one point as well?We lose to KY if we keep playing him and might lose to MSST with how he was playing in the red zone. Plus in the GA game he didn’t complete a pass in the third quarter which took us out of the game. I didn’t see a lot of promise other than his passion on the field. Wish we had recruited Sam Howell
Say it louder for the ppl in the back. This is what I’m saying. I just disagree with the people who think we’re good to go with Guarantano at QB. He won 11 games at wazzou. Is that their best season ever? He also just threw for 3,000 yards in the league.Oh nice, those guys are grad transfers this year? Awesome, I'll help them unpack their bags then once they get to Knoxville.
Minshew is a terrible example btw, he went to Mike Leach at Washington State and did what literally ever QB to ever play a season with Mike Leach does.
I thought hilinski would be the best coming into the year. Played through most of the season with a bum knee. He led his team to a win on the road at UGA. Maurer got blown out at home by GA.He was still coming back from injury and was a true freshmen who needed a year to redshirt and get bigger. Nailed it. It’s the latter. If you haven’t noticed, any opposing player or coach that experiences a good deal of success, is deemed a scumbag, douche canoe, cheater, etc. They hate em’ cause they ain’t em’.Really not understanding the hate for Trevor Lawrence. He got killed out there the other night and still won the game for Clemson. For a guy that looks like he should be such a pretty boy who has been on a front-running team that has just been better than everyone else they've played until Saturday, he showed a lot of toughness and competitive spirit getting up off the mat and leading his team to victory. Or maybe the latter part is what makes people hate him that much more.

I don’t know what you have against him but we don’t score a single touchdown against UGA without him. JG is bad against good defenses, turn on the UF game for one. JG has never beat a really good team. I wouldn’t say Hilinski led them to the win. Pick six and Georgia having their worst game of the year led to that win. Maurer is a true freshmen who was 150 pounds soaking wet. He needed a redshirt year. Not every QB is ready day one and you can see a lot of promise in Maurer.I thought hilinski would be the best coming into the year. Played through most of the season with a bum knee. I think maurer could be ok in time but I just don’t get the love for him. He got benched against KY because he was making terrible reads on RPO. I also think he would’ve gotten benched against MSST if he hadn’t gotten hurt. When JG stays calm and plays with confidence he can help us beat anyone
