Keep in mind that teams like MI got a lot of wins before other teams even started playing football, and sometimes those wins were against HS teams and sports clubs. Also the early games were played with far more players, a round ball, different scoring, and a much different field. Too bad that we don't have a more realistic set of numbers dating back to a time (like probably in the 20s or 30s) when the game became more or less like the football we know today. The Ivy League schools like Harvard and Yale generally rank well up at the top both in wins and "championships" because they also had a big head start on most modern FBS (or Division 1) teams.

Even Sewanee was a terror back in the day - and a charter member of the SEC. Vandy wasn't the only instate school getting the better of Tennessee in football in the early 1900s.

Sad that is has come to this. We have squandered away our clear position right behind Bama in the conference. 10+ years of incompetence will do that to you.
Georgia had actually gone ahead of us in the 80's under Vince Dooley in SEC Championships but we went back in front of them in 90' I think, we built a pretty good lead in both categories after the 90's but they've been creeping up on our 6 ever since they hired Richt.

Funny to see the usual fraud suspects on this list like Boise St...

26-31 vs major college football team but a high winning pct because they have won 87% of their MWC/WAC conference games. and yet one game below UNLV

The all-time win total, and the reason for it as you stated, is a huge reason why Michigan is the most overrated football program of all-time. There isn't a program/fanbase out there with a more over-inflated opinion of its accomplishments than Michigan, and it isn't even close.

I despise Michigan, and their fans.

to be fair, they the 200< list is full of teams that moved from D1-A/FCS to D1/FBS is the recent years so comparing their wins vs established D1/FBS programs isnt accurate.

But I get the gist of your statement

Fortunately, since LSU won this weekend we remain tied with Georgia for 2nd in SEC Championships and 2nd SEC wins.
. Yea a 22 year SEC title drought has not helped us move up any we would have 16 if we had won in our 3 appearances in 2001, 2004,2007 which were all winnable. Fulmer really kinda underachieved if you think about it with all those talented teams that he had to only win 2 SEC titles he should’ve won 5 or 6. For example we had LSU 13 to 6 in SEC titles but they have 11 now since they have won 5 since 2000 and we have zero and who knows when we will we back in the SEC title game 12 long years and counting now.

Yep. Michigan fans are Alabama fans, except more smug/elitist and nowhere near as accomplished.
As much I despise Bama they are def more accomplished than Michigan especially in where it counts winning national titles. 11 consensus national titles to just 2 for Michigan and one was shared with Nebraska in 1997. Michigan hasn’t even won the big ten since 2004 and have beat Ohio St just once since then incredibly overrated program.
