Outback bowl vs. Minnesota?

I can assure you that Minnesota will be motivated for any bowl game they are in. Despite two tough losses, it has still been a historic season and they are going to want to add another win.

That’s kind of my thought process as well, especially if you face an SEC team. Fleck strikes me as the kind of coach who is never short on energy and can manufacture any sort of motivational tool necessary to get his team ready to go.

Penn St isn't good, would be .500 in SEC
You're high. For the record, I don't think Minnesota is that good. I think they overachieved this year. They peaked when they beat Penn State, and they came back to Earth in the last two games. Penn State, on the other hand, is legit and would easily be among the top teams in the SEC. I'd say that they're comparable to Auburn.

I kind of agree. I think they have good coaching, but the talent at Auburn is better across the board minus a couple of star players.

Auburn's defense would whoop their ass so no they are not comparable

What has to happen for Tenn to get back into Outback consideration? What upsets to look for?..

I have looked at the predictions of 4-5 different "experts" and after finding Tennessee in a different game against a different team for every one of them, I decided to just wait it out and not worry about it.
Crazy year for sure......nothing but rumors and a big guessing game. Waste of energy trying to fiqure these bowls out. Am hoping however UT gets an invite to one of the Florida bowls.

The only hope of Tennessee playing in the Outback Bowl stems from the SEC putting four teams in the Playoff/NY6. LSU and Georgia are stone cold locks, and Florida seems destined to play in the NY6 as well. You need either Auburn or Alabama to play in a NY6 bowl or else those two are definitely going to the Citrus/Outback. To increase the odds of Alabama/Auburn making a NY6 bowl, you'll need the opposite of upsets; Utah needs to win tonight, Oklahoma should beat the breaks off of Baylor and Ohio State should absolutely annihilate Wisconsin. There may be some advantage to UGA beating LSU, but I think they'd be fine with one playoff/3 NY6 teams for the SEC in the same vein as 2 playoff/2 NY6 teams.

Latest is that Bama has sunk to the Outback Bowl...You think they will not jump at the chance to have them...Hmmm...maybe not though. Their fans only show up for the playoffs...lol..

It won't matter what the bowl wants at that point, because if they fall all the way to the Outback Bowl, it'll take the SEC about a millisecond to slot them there.

Just because UT beat the five worst teams in the SEC, you actually think they could beat Penn State? Delusional.
Vols have more speed, probably more guys who will play in the NFL. Kentucky could beat Penn State.

Two beat down losses and a 50/50 game?

It would be nice as a historic sounding game, but Tennessee is a step or two away from either of those big 10ish teams.
Not sure about a beat down. The Big 10 is a couple of pegs below the SEC as evidenced by past bowl seasons. I do think we are a year away from taking on those teams and would prefer a match up we could win and finish the season and recruiting strong

Yeah, they are a power house. That’s why they screwed up my bowl pool last year when they got slapped around by Kentucky. What’s delusional is thinking that Big 10 teams are on par with SEC teams.
