Jennings suspended for first half of bowl game (merged)

I think they have enough to justify the suspension. Honestly, I think he kind of deserves it even though I don't believe the head step was intentional.

I don't think they could tell if it was intentional or not but him ripping off the helmet is the key issue. Especially after the Garrett-Rudolph fiasco recently. He's lucky it's only half a game which I think we all should be happy they only did that much.
lol..really..wow..and yes I did watch it..and..no..

so ripping off a helmet is as bad as hitting some one in the head with a helmet..seems logical ..wow

Meanwhile, Raekwon Davis rained blows down on a Missouri player, then dropped a knee on his back, he didn't get kicked out or suspended by the SEC. That is absolutely another example of why the Bama/SEC conspiracy isn't a conspiracy, it's a fact.

He didn't get suspended by the SEC because Bama suspended him for a half.

They have nothing that proves intent.

That is the dumbest thing you have ever said here. Good grief. You really are a special case.

Okay, so they are required to prove intent? If my statement is "dumb" then it must be wrong. Did I miss a link to the rulebook or bylaws?

This is wrong for so many reasons. It’s an awful precedent. If this were an LSU or GA player no way they do this before the SECCG.

Tenn is the easy target nobody else will care about. Period.

Just awful.

So what was the reason for suspension? The helmet or stepping on the guys head?

I haven't seen any official explanation (sorry if I missed it; I haven't read the entire thread). I would think it's a bit of both. To put it another way: I doubt he gets a suspension for just yanking off the helmet or for stepping on a guy who's protected by a helmet.

Regardless, I think if the step were obviously intentional, like Haynesworth on Gurode, then we're probably be looking at way more than a half.

Good lord.

I'm always willing to admit when I'm wrong. In this particular case, I haven't even expressed certainty as to the situation. You seem very sure of your position, so I assume you can provide some kind of support for it.

The hammer has fallen. I’m not sure if I agree with the suspension, but at least he gets to play 1/2 the bowl game. I’m sure he will go off in the second half. And we still have Palmer and callaway, so no sweat.

Whoever we play, run it down their throats in the first half, pass over their D in the second half.

Nobody said he couldn't, just that it was unlikely he did it on purpose. You ever accidentally stepped in sh**? Kind of the same thing.
Accidental or no JJ stepped on a Vandy player so it’s not “kind of the same thing “ as stepping in sh**. It is EXACTLY the same thing my friend 😁

Agree w/ Rucker...if they thought he was intentional, should have been entire game. If not sure, don't see how you suspend him. Maybe SEC pressed for full game, and Fulmer had to plea it down to half game, which could be why Fulmer came out and said he wouldn't contest it. ...would always like to be a fly on the wall w/ some of these things.
