Jennings suspended for first half of bowl game (merged)

Are you really trying to rationalize his behavior??? Really??? That is simply not how the game is played. The consequnces fit the behavior. Hope he learns from this and make a truckload of money in the league. I believe he will

No I'm not. I've seen worse where there was no flag and non suspension. There was no STOMP. There was no hit out of bounds. And I don't believe he ripped the helmet off - I think the helmet coming off as well as the fact that JJ's helmet was all a mess was due to them two scuffling while on the ground.

He ripped the guy's helmet off then immediately stepped on his head.

Damn lucky to only miss a half
I can tell you're a steelers fan, cause you are good at reading minds, but don't know a dag gum thang about football.

Can anyone put a video of the incident? I have searched youtube and can not find any video of it, just people talking about it. Thanks.

I'm willing to concede there's a chance... A small chance, Jennings didn't step on that dude's face on purpose.

But when people are on here defending that, while calling what Pickens did "attempted murder" (lol), it's hard to not laugh at the crazy amount of bias there. Show a random person both plays, 9/10 are going to say the Jennings play is more egregious. Jmo.

There is ignorance and stupidity. I dont insult very often but you sir are just latter and the reason people fear a jury trial. You went from a position of ...he obviously knew what was happening in the scrum around him, looking the other way, with a chin stap in his face to ....there's a small chance he didn't do it on purpose. Use your freaking eyes man. Heck watch any single football play on tv and watch guys running into one another or stepping on each other with no idea until after it happens.

Play him anyway. What are they going to do, tell the refs to call bogus calls on us vs. BAMA?

And BTW, does the SEC have jurisdiction here on a non-SEC game in a non-SEC stadium?
The SEC can do it by a NCAA rule. However, does the NCAA have any power nowadays, Memphis BB says no.

I don't know if it was intentional or not, but the film I have seen of it says "no". It is what it is though.

We still get to see Jennings play one more half of football at Tennessee. A much loved, fan favorite, still gets to play one more time forus!

I understand the suspension, even if it was unintentional by JJ. At the least, it was certainly negligence.

Regardless, I’m happy it’s only for half of the game. It’d be a shame for him to be suspended for the entirety of his last game as a Vol.

How much blood and how many facial bones were broken? I didn’t think so.

As long as he gets at least 58 yards in the second half to break 1,000 for the season!

I think it is fair enough, even if he didn't mean it, it wasn't a good look.

The water on the tarp made it a fast slip n slide so looked much more violent.

JJ should do some twitter apology for stepping on him....It will help his draft stock.

Damn it. I wondered about that. It looked like Jennings was fired up about the hit and just trying to get up off of the slick, wet tarp they were on to celebrate with his team mates.

On a side note, did the sound go out right when it happened for anyone else? It took a few minutes to come back on Hulu.

I wonder if knocked over some sound equipment or dislodged some cable connections.
