The Impeachment Thread

It's basically just about driving home the point that Trump is a horrendously despicable human who should not be president.
If enough of the public continues to turn a blind eye, so be it. History will judge.
I’m glad to see you come around and admit this whole show has nothing to do with a high crime or misdemeanor because if definitive proof of such existed it would’ve already come out and there wouldn’t be a debate. I 100% agree this whole show is about nothing but influencing voters for the 2020 election, or should we call it meddling since Dems love using that word?

I would agree. The Trump administration has made the essential role of oversight much tougher going forward. Republicans are being very short-sighted by defending this. There will come a time when they will want to subpoena documents from a Democratic Party President... and they will get nothing.
I don't think that you are so naive to believe that this is something new to either party.

I agree with your assessment. I don’t think it’s a reason to remove a sitting president. He didn’t ask them to make up crap. The proper response is a censure.

I agree that the act wasn't enough to impeach. As the deets of the cover up keep being revealed the picture is starting to get cloudier, for me at least - a coordinated effort to deceive Congress and the American people...

Bruce Pearl can attest that the cover up is usually worse than the crime.

Half serious question: What if tomorrow Trump stood up and announced that executive branch officials would no longer appear at any House hearings? Would the Hill GOP finally balk? Or would they say," He won, get over it"?

We all know the answer to that question.

We all know the answer to that question.
It could be leaked that Trump privately asked Putin to hack the voting machines to rig the ballots in his favor and the GOP would just say he's kidding, argue that it doesn't rise to the level of impeachment, and demand the 'voters' be allowed to decide next November.

Ya they can commit professional suicide if they want to. It's a free country.
My pt Saturday....
The one that "doesn't" need a psychiatrist is actively responding to auditory hallucinations and losing the argument with the imaginary. I happen to disagree with her and told her her psychiatrist would be in to see her in the morning.
Was the patient on drugs or have a history of drug abuse?

Interesting, however that also didn't either. ;)

I always have to show mine, and the woman at the polling place where I early vote grew up 300 yards from my house. She has known me well for over 60 years.

Trump needn’t have had to empanel a Committee headed by VP Pence to learn there was no voter fraud he could have just asked you

Have you read our treaty with Ukraine? It gives the US the right to request investigations, participate, give info on people......we even set up their anticorruption organization.

Correct. It covers the US Government. It does not cover any individual acting on his/ her personal behalf as POTUS did. You can’t selectively cherry pick/assess the facts. We you can but that’s why the defend Trumpers at all costs are wrong. Corrupt

The treaty doesn’t seem to contemplate either nation instructing the other to enforce their own laws, so Biden/Burisma did not seem to be covered. It certainly didn’t contemplate private investigations run by the president’s personal lawyer.

In terms of the crowdstrike thing, there might be an argument there, I didn’t read it from that perspective because I don’t really think that type of request crosses any big red lines. The Ukrainians were asking for an “official request” when this went public so they seemed to think the phone call was insufficient.

It’s clear that requests are supposed to come from the Attorney General or his subordinates (seems likely that there’s an office at DOJ that coordinates these requests). It was negotiated that way because DOJ is supposed to be an autonomous agency with prosecutorial discretion that is independent from the President. Tearing down that norm is dangerously close to the slippery slope into banana republic and we’ve already had Beto O’Rourke and Kamala Harris(?) promise to prosecute Trump if they win. Fortunately that type of blood lust apparently hasn’t caught on on the left and they’ve both dropped out, but it’s only a matter of time.

Good question! Why hasn't Honest Adam released the obvious testimonial connections between himself, the WB, and his staff members?

Whoooooooooooo that answer has me not shaking in my boots coming from a Trump Eunuch as it does

I especially liked how Nunes used so much of his 45 minute segments to repeat more than once over days his debunked cinspiratorial theories

As evidenced by the summary of the July 25th phone call, it's clear that Trump does believe in the CrowdStrike theory which has been de-bunked all over the internet. In order to believe that theory, you would have to overlook some things which are very easily fact-checked - such as the fact that CrowdStrike is based out of Sunnyvale, California. You would also have to firmly disbelieve the conclusion reached by our intelligence community. Trump really did ask Zelensky to look for the DNC server. It is not the kind of theory that you would expect an intelligent, competent person to believe... much less the President of the United States.

Well consider the sources of who all on this forum is believing this stuff

This revelation makes one reminisce about his and other GOPers conduct during the hearings.

And that will be equally as bad for all our citizens

Do we now have American Journalists?

Sure we do . We’ve always had them . Do they use there position to push an agenda ? Of course they do , they to some degree always have given the opportunity. It’s the editors and managers that I blame more than the reporters . It should be managements job to keep the platform neutral and just report the facts . Big money influences the management, management pushes the agenda , reporters gets mixed up with opinion shows , news cycles run 24/7 , Ratings and profits soar . Welcome to instant gratification , I have the attention span of a good fish , America .

I think the message to the rest of the world is that the US is not a lost cause and completely insane.
