So here's the thing about the NCAA March Madness vs a playoff in college football.

Say you do let in the Group of 5s, how long before the first matchup? It's usually 2-4 weeks depending on bowl game and conference championships. So Penn State draws Boise State for a chance to win and advance to a chance at the national championship and gets a full 15 extra practices to focus on preparing for them. I mean, you may have an upset but I'd expect most of the powerhouses in the Power 5 to lay the wood.

Because the big difference is other bowl games don't serve a purpose like the playoffs do. Coaches want the extra practices to benefit the team for the next season, but it really won't do much for them in the current season. "Rankings" don't mean much unless they are related to seeding in a championship playoff.

Basketball is just a different beast, it's beautiful and I love it. I love that undersized, less athletic teams can shoot the lights out on a blue blood and knock them out of a tournament. But "win or go home" in a game like football, I'd be shocked to ever see a true underdog upset someone big time.

Why? too much preparation time, too much at stake, too many players for one to make a huge difference. There's also nothing in-game that can separate smaller/less athletic teams from the bigger/more athletic teams like the 3 point shot does in basketball.

Georgia is going to whoop Bama next year and there will be rumblings of Sabans retirement. Heard it here first.

Bama whipping No. 3 UGA in Athens in 2008 was kinda the official start of the Saban dynasty. Could definitely see that going the other way next year. Don’t think Kirby is building a dynasty though.

Aitting here thinking about tue I line next year. I only see one possible spot to fill and thats Trey's if he leaves. We could have a nasty line next year

He actually blocked two different Andy players. He went and chipped one guy and then caught up to the other. Very impressed. His speed was impressive. EG is fast and he was catching him like nothing.

I think Tillman will be a big part of the WR corps in our future. I like his speed, hands and height. Going to be a good one.

So what time do coaches start getting fired today? Also who should we have our eye on for getting the boot? In the SEC maybe Muschamp and Mason. Stoops might be targeted by FSU once their coaching search fires up.

On the national stage Kelly and Heltons seat have to be getting hot out in LA. Also Herman in Texas seat has to be getting hot. Herman will probably getting a 4th year but Texas is crazy and their has been a lot of clueless/out of touch quotes come out of that program.

Most schools that lost to the Vols this year seem to seriously consider firing their coaches.

Beasley is ALREADY here...

I was responding to you saying he Beasley was being recruited over. We've got lots of RS guys who saw tons of playing time this season, an Beasley came in as a raw talent who was even willing to take reps at ILB for awhile when needed. He may be one of those guys like Fant that never finds a great landing spot, but I'm also not writing him off. I'm sure Pruitt & staff would rather guys with experience in their system earn starting roles.
What’s he gonna do when Keyshawn gets here? What’s he gonna do if Alontae gets moved to Safety?

He’s a tweener too. Limited places you can actually play him.

It’s only going to get more crowded for him.

Alontae won’t be seeing the field much next year imo unless he moves to offense

I'm fine with it. It puts us 2 years ahead of all of those schools.

Absolutely. Opportunity to poach recruits and start being viewed as one of the stable SEC programs. In time I think some teams will regret the decision because they’ll realize that Pruitt is a good coach and they were just beat by a pretty good team. They’re still viewing Tennessee through the lens of the Ga St loss.

Why fire Odom? Missouri will not find a better fit.

Man...two seasons in a row where Pruitt & staff left me thinking "we shoulda won 2 more games" it's going to be exciting moving forward though. I think he's figured things out and really grew as a HC from year 1 to year 2, he continues to make these types of strides and he'll be a very successful coach.

So the 5 loses ended up not being to any 500 or sub 500 teams, Georgia State & BYU both finished 7-5 each losing their last game of the season though. Then obviously Georgia, Florida, and Alabama are all 10+ win teams. I am excited moving forward and hoping the Vandy game was just the start of what I hope is a very impressive career for Gray here at UT.
