I think Clemson should be in the playoffs if they win next game. That wasn't the point of my post. My post was about moving goalposts on arguments for who doesn't deserve to get in giving them a free pass. And about not expanding to preserve the precious regular season. Who knows if they're better than those g5 schools though? They haven't played a single team that is that good yet. They almost lost to a crap unc team.
To me the G5 schools are like the teams in the play-in game in the NCAA tournament.

They have lots of shoulder injuries and catch phrases. Sound familiar? Herman is just a slightly better version of butch. Infallible system and a refusal to adjust when it doesn't work. Check. Rash of injuries that seem less about bad luck and more about how they're coached. Check. Getting outcoached in games you should win on the reg. Check.

Particularly on defense, they are one of the most fundamentally unsound teams I've ever seen at this level. It's like no one has ever taught them to form tackle. Instead of wrapping up the man and bringing him to the ground, they put their heads down and launch themselves like missiles at the ball carrier. That's why they have so many neck and shoulder injuries in their DB's. And then when they actually land one of those blows they get a targeting penalty. Even worse, the Orlando defense relies on DB's to set the edge instead of LB's or DE's, so they end up physically mismatched at the point of attack. Will be real interesting to see what Herman does this offseason.

Poor logic, Pruitt is building a dynasty like Saban has. Which means the only way a freshman plays is to earn the spot. So the guys on roster now will have a leg up on incoming recruits.
Your post doesn’t follow, “logically”.

He’s not playing over the guys ALREADY here. And recruiting is only going to get better.

We’ll see.

Very good job by Pruitt and the staff to get this thing turned around this year. If someone told me after that 1-4 start that Tennessee would finish 7-5 I would have thought they were crazy. Going into next year I think we've surpassed Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Missouri and South Carolina on the field. Now, on to the big 3. Bama, UGA, and UF aren't going anywhere. In order for this program to take the next step, we're simply going to have to recruit better. Really need to finish in that top 15 or so come signing day.

So what will our RB and WR rotations look like next season?

OL should be good. TEs are a total unknown but Chaney didn’t use them much this season anyway.

I think they’re going to do whatever they can to redshirt Bailey unless he just blows the doors off the competition. JG, Maurer and Hill should be plenty ahead of him.

Yes - the most impressive thing wasn’t who we beat - although winning that many games in such a short span is impressive regardless. What was most impressive to me was keeping this team engaged, working hard, and getting better. Not an easy thing to do at 1-4 and these coaches deserve immense credit.

I doubt hill is ever involved.

the reason I would like to see it at 8 is because every once in a great while a Villanova beats a georgetown, and you have rollie massamino pulling his hair out with joy. I doubt it would expand further after that due to the fact that if u cant make the top 8 after the regular season, number 9 will not have a great argument for inclusion. It would give one or 2 little guys a shot each year and would be exciting as hell to see Bama lose to say, Boise

Question, is there going to be a freshman starting at Any position next year?

Except for LS and WR I cant think of any position that does not have players with some depth that would prevent us from having to start a freshman again.

RB should look pretty much the same but a year older and 2 freshman unless we pickup a Juco or transfer.

WR helps that we have Johnson RS. We need Tillman and Keyton to take a step forward and hopefully Gibbs is good. I have heard Gibbs have flashed in practice. The most important thing for WR is for Palmer to become consistent and be able to be productive against the other teams best corner.

TEs should only lose DWA. I think people underestimate what Pope brings. With another year in the weight room I think it's reasonable to expect 1 of Brown, Lowe, or Warren to step up. If we land Washington this group doesn't take a step back and could take a step forward.

OL might lose Trey but I don't think you can argue this position group is better as a unit next year.

As long as we don't miss manage the QB room we should be better on offense. There are options in the QB room so hopefully we find atleast one which provides more consistent play than the committee approach we had to go with this year.
