I know this is a football forum - but golf is my go to and always will be. I have the same philosophy on aging and am not far behind you age-wise. Go out upright with your feet on the ground, preferably on a golf course. Being outside with moderate exercise, enjoying the scenery with friends and family, using your analytical skills to figure out the best way to score, and even spending some alone time with the Lord - that's the way to enjoy life leading up to and after retirement.
I miss playing so much. I can barely play now because it hurts so bad after, I have only played four rounds this year..when I lived in T-Bay just four years ago I played two-three times a week. It is a beautiful game to play.

I'd love to go out just like Bing Crosby :):). I retired three weeks before I turned 62 and have never looked back. I get in 240 to 260 rounds a year--weather permitting.

I live in Georgia but hate virtually every sports team in the State, for various reasons.

After the highly entertaining last couple minutes of the Egg Bowl, I switched over to the ending of the Falcons/Saints game, hoping to see Kamara make some fools look silly.

The Falcons were down 26-9 and scored a touchdown, making it 26-15, and they chose to go for two. I couldn't figure that out for the life of me. There was no way to make it less than a three score deficit, so it didn't make sense to me. And it almost bit them in the ass...after recovering the second (third, really) onside kick, if they had scored, it would have been 26-24, and they would have had to get the two-point conversion to tie it, whereas they would have only needed the extra point to tie (or 2-pt conversion to win) if they had kicked the extra point earlier.

All that being said, the three (only two, officially) consecutive on-side kick recoveries were a sight to behold. I thought Sean Payton was about to execute his special teams coach right there on the sideline!

I wasn’t sure about them going for two up 11 either. It didn’t make sense. But their kicker had missed an XP and FG, so that probably figured into it.

T-Bay would be like golf heaven for the climate and courses. Sorry your health is holding you back. Hopefully it will improve to where you can again. I had rotators going bad and an arthritic left knee from an ACL recon, so I went to my good golfer doc who gave me some strength and stretching techniques along with encouragement to go with a rotational swing that took the stress off the joints. He also encouraged multi-collagen supplements that have really helped. Once scoop in my coffee in the morning and after a couple of months I noticed really improved function and less pain. Been on that for nearly two years and see some other benefits as well.

I now swing around more rooted feet/legs with minimal motion/sway and better turn. Play better with more distance than ever. My motto with irons now is to thump the ground and watch it fly. Was a sweeper until the changes. Wish I had known all this in my younger years.

Love it. Retired early as well. I'm at 150-200 rounds primarily because the grandkids are still young and we keep them some. When they get a bit older they will be able to go out with me. The brainwashing has already started. lol.

“Spending some alone time with the Lord” — is that golf code for stomping through the weeds looking for your ball and praying He won’t make you take a drop?

I have six extremely herniated discs (3Ls and 3Cs) with stenosis, and spurring, two blown out knees and a bad right shoulder...no matter what I do it hurts..lol. I can't swing hard at all...I could drive it 275ish back in the days before metal, and I can barely hit it 200 now..

Still love it when I do get to play now, even if it kills me for a week after. 😁

Well, I'm going to have to start playing golf now.
