The Impeachment Thread

We will see. Backlash is a dangerous opponent. Especially since you spent the last 2 years chasing a ghost and have tents all over your sidewalks.
You really have no idea about California. You wouldn't understand it unless you lived in the area that Schiff represents, and even then, you still wouldn't understand.

Schiff won with nearly 80% of the vote in the last election.

I have cousins in the San Diego area. I've visited twice in my lifetime. Once when I was 5. And again in 2010 for my uncle's funeral. That's pretty much all I care to know or understand about the place, except the food scene was more than acceptable. Unless we get the funds put away for a Northern Cali visit around Half Moon Bay or Wine Country. I'd go for that.

Had some very close friends that lived around San Ramon in the Bay Area for quite a while. Kids got near HS age and they bailed out and came back to TN. But, he was a Verizon exec over the West end. He got 6 months severance for resigning. Hasn't worked since other than volunteer coaching at Columbia Academy. He finally made them hire him if they wanted him to continue coaching 2 sports.

That's about all I got on understanding CA. Won't be hedging for any more than that.

The House Intelligence Committee is in possession of photos, video, and audio recordings provided by Lev Parnas, an associate of Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, multiple people familiar with the matter told ABC News. The material submitted to the committee includes audio, video and photos that include Giuliani and Trump, according to ABC News. It is unclear what the content contains, and the committees have only began accessing the material last week, ABC reports. The tapes were provided as part of the congressional subpoena issued to Parnas, who also provided documents both in English and Ukrainian to the committee, the sources told ABC News. Parnas was subpoenaed last month by House committees at the same time as his accomplice, Igor Fruman. The two men, who are both awaiting trial on campaign finance charges, had previously said through their attorney that they would not be complying with the subpoena.

Nice areas if you have to be there. Oddly, I found San Diego area to be quite nice. Coronado, La Jolla, Disney Land area. Everything seemed nestled into the Palms and not severely concreted for a moderately sized urban sprawl. Didn't seem to last too far inland before mountains met coast and turned into desert.

Trying to navigate traffic was a different story, and the legal right motorcycles have to ride the white line between cars was unsettling. As if watching for all the other cars wasn't enough.

Also rode to the border since it was just a few miles and browsed all the tent shops and stuff. That was an experience. Hadn't been around anything similar to that since shopping in Manila.

Impeachment latest: Republicans buy into Trump conspiracies to blunt impact of impeachment hearings - CNNPolitics

Two weeks of dramatic and incriminating public impeachment testimony did little to sever the strong bond between President Donald Trump, his Republican supporters and conservative media propagandists.
In fact, the more damning the suggestions of an abuse of power become, the deeper it forces Trump's defenders into his wild brew of conspiracy theories, disinformation and distortion.

Asked by "Fox News Sunday" anchor Chris Wallace whether he believed Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential race, Kennedy answered: "I don't know, nor do you, nor do any others."
"It could also be Ukraine. I'm not saying that I know one way or the other,"
Kennedy said.

Trump has pioneered his own unique strategy -- ignore the mounting pile of damaging testimony and convince his supporters to dismiss the evidence of their own eyes. This is an approach consistent with the President's famous comment in a speech to veterans last year: "What you are seeing and what you are reading is not what's happening."

It's still fascinating.

The Republicans have adopted the "Blues Traveler defense" ... and it's working with base:

"It doesn't matter what I say
So long as I sing with inflection"

What’s fascinating is an impeachment “ inquiry “ that had hopes of swinging votes without following through on full impeachment votes in house and senate thinking you could pull some independents in and ignoring the fact that the public gets tired and bored of long drawn out fishing expeditions fairly quickly and it doesn’t matter which party is hosting the fishing party . Now that’s what’s fascinating.

The world seen this all play out before. The High Command goose stepping with the Fuhrer and the Ministry of Propaganda working overtime.

You have to admit that it's kind of funny that when faced with reality, the response is usually to post a cartoon. I think it's because having to read is considered an imposition or an otherwise unduly difficult task by the trumpers. Pictures are way easier...

That's the fascinating part. I was never able to comprehend how that could happen. But even seeing it first hand now, I still can't really comprehend.
