Lots went wrong but #2 is QB1 [JG discussion, merged]

I am so freakin happy we won, but I would in no way say Guarantano silenced his critics. He played his tail off tonight, but there were still too many plays where he overshot receivers and held on to the ball too long. But GBO, we going bowling!!!
why don't you admit you're wrong.

Saw tears in his eyes after the game. He must read VN.
For whatever reason he hasn't had the year he and everyone hoped but he hung in there and plugged away. VFL

I always thought that people have been unfair to JG. He's not excellent, but he's not the worst QB we've had lately, the way many people would have you believe (people really have forgotten how terrible Crompton was in 2008), and the Ga State and BYU losses were not his fault. Those games were on the defense.
exactly.

I voted that JG should go in the poll a few weeks ago.....

However, I'd change my vote if JG's performance improvement would continue on his present course.
Kudos belong to CJP and Chaney for NOT sending him to Siberia after the BAMA game.

And WELL DONE JG!

Does it really matter?

He stunk the first half of the season. He deserved to be blasted.

He is playing really well now. He deserves to be praised.

That’s all.

What I don’t understand is the short term memories, and the stick it to your fellow fans that noticed that JG stunk for 3 years. Short memories is a fandom thing, I suppose.

just admit you're wrong.

The boos at home were crappy. There were idiots on this board that were trying to evaluate body language when he was benched and say he wasn't engaged and he needed to go. Lots of classless behavior by some of our fans.
I'm definitely against booing players, however it was taking too long for CJP to give Maurer a shot. He and Shrout had a chance and I think VN was happy because truthfully they did earn the opportunity to give it a try. There was also some suspect and conservative playcalling that I think helped lead to the boos.
But JG played very poorly. He regressed. He made dumb decisions. He called his own number against Bama. He looked like he didn't care coming off the field against Bama. So again, he deserves every bit of criticism. Now, if you want to complain about a small portion of the fan base for crossing the line, fine, but don't say the entire fan base owes him an apology for getting himself into that mess.

JG has had his ups and downs this season, but through it all he has given everything he has for the team and been an excellent representative of the university and football program.

I still think we would be better if he transferred, yes he had a good game, but they are not very often, and we still didn't score that many points even with a good game from him. I think we have and will have better qb on the roster, they just need some game expierence. And also we won't have callaway and jennings to bail him out next year.
admit you're wrong.

Kudos to JG and the whole team for their resiliency. They were staring a 2-10 season in the eye but didn't quit after a horrible start. Good job by the coaches too in getting steady improvement from the team.

It's hard to finish when you can't Run It In! Neyland said "When you throw it, 3 things happen and two are bad." That aside, We are who we are, and without JG at QB, we are staying home for the bowls.
If you're going to quote somebody make sure you get the right person. D. Royal (TX)made that statement.

Every SEC team this year has quarterbacks that have bad games, miss open receivers, fumble and they didn't bail on their QB like Vols fans dumped on this guy early in the season. The guy bleeds orange and it's good to see fans giving him some positive support. I'd be proud to wear a Guarantano jersey.

Mizzou put the game on JG and he played well enough to beat them. They stacked the box all night. Man coverage with big cushions. Mizzou was basically saying you can’t beat us throwing the ball. Maybe they scouted Volnation and read how JG was the worst qb ever to take a snap and lost to GA ST.

Those same classless fans are still here. They think that by them saying they are happily eating crow it makes everything ok now, what a crock!

Just because someone doesn’t share your opinion doesn’t mean you have to be the message board police. Grow up, people’s opinions differ. In life you have to respect other people’s opinions and move on.
You don't have to respect anyone's opinion when their opinion is disrespectful. You gotta earn respect, you haven't with your take on JG.

My OPINION is he is not a great quarterback, that sir is my OPINION. It is mine, I have the right to have my opinion, just like you have the right to yours. I think he is a great kid and a tough player, i appreciate the fact that he has given his all for Tennessee. Don’t get it twisted, I have said that I appreciate his dedication and hard work. I just don’t think he is a quarterback that will get us to the next level. I respect your opinion of him, so how about respect the fact that our opinions differ and move on.
