There is no basis for these claims other than the fact that principled conservatives are now persona non grata in the party formerly known as the GOP.

Now we have the Trumplican party on one side, which has no ideological bent other than Hail Trump; AND Democrats who are still deciding whether they want to be at the adult table or sit at the fold out with the Democratic Socialists.

We desperately need a third party for people who understand Economics, Science, History and International Diplomacy. Hell, basic math even. It won't happen though, because such a party would be too boring for the holier-than-thou victims, brain-dead boot-lickers, and virtue signaling shut-ins on social media.

I don't doubt that Moscow Mitch would try it if he could. I don't believe it will get off the ground though. Justice Roberts will be in charge of the proceedings and I don't think he'll be on board with that.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) also said as much in a March interview with NPR: “If it [impeachment] were to happen, the Senate has no choice. If the House were to act, the Senate immediately goes into a trial.”

Roberts would have no say in the Senate dismissing the charges, he doesn't get involved until the trial actually starts. Besides Trump has already stated if impeached he wants a full trial in the Senate.

You think Rudy, Pomp and Bolton will come out of hiding and answer questions for the full trail he wants? Certainly he'd want to be fully exonerated.

He can try but I don't think it will work. The Constitution says if he is impeached he will be tried in the Senate. A trial with the Chief Justice in charge is constitutionally mandated. I'm sure the Dems will request an emergency ruling by SCOTUS if Moscow Mitch tries it.
