Why do you think big programs aren’t pushing for him? Clemson passed, Bama appears to be passing, even UT seems torn and not pushing hard and we need all the elite athletes we can get. So what’s the truth as to why he’s likely ending up at USC?Not upset at all just a lot of nonsense being said. Also not all 3 of thise Whitehaven kids who I've had the pleasure to see and work with up close are better. Grimes is more fluid than all 3 of those kids and can do more things in particular. Only one of the 3 even compares athletically. Ijs and i have spoken on our kids too when i didn't think they were what they were said to be. Ppl speaking on his dad and all that, i mean dad wasn't some all world All American but was big body with nice athleticism. As i said before scheme and responsibility is different for all players. This kid has sacks and ints and tds wkly. Its not like he's missing in action. There are zero times he showed up in the stat column. Now he goes hard every down or play can be questioned but to me that can be nitpicking for any position or player. Anyways GBO
It's common sense. You don't white flag your state's top prospect if you truly have any aspirations of recaiming dominion over your own back yard.

GA sure hasn't locked down the state this year.I love Tennessee High School Football.
And it's getting better and better. But Georgia is more important for the VOLS.
Smart has done a great job locking down that state and look at the results. 3 SEC Title game appearances straight now...
And Pruitt has done a good job of getting In-State guys. Lawrence, Mays, and The Whitehaven trio are huge recruiting pulls.
But guess what? Penn State hates us right now. Mordecai McDaniel and Dominic Bailey are two of the better prospects on the Atlantic Coast, both heavily recruit by them.
Yet Penn State has controlled Pennsylvania very well.
O Thomas is probably the best prospect in TN. Then Lawrence at 2. After that it's a mixed bag that doesn't include Grimes in the remaining top 10.
Grimes has to become more confident in his play...
Oh, now you were bragging about Smart locking down his state. They have not this year. And even though Tennessee did not get any like Wanya this year, I think we will be able to join the other poachers in the coming years and force Smart to have to go out of state instead of relying on those players choosing the home state the way they have for decades...not just Smart. Giving him too much credit. And UGA has a 5 star LB committed from Out of State, and the top RB from California.
Top prospect by who’s ranking? You think Pruitt gives a damn about rivals or 247’s ranking? Again the legit fact is you and others beating the drum to land this kid wouldn’t know who the hell he is on tape if it weren’t pointed out for you. It's common sense. I am not confused. You were bragging about Smart locking down the state of GA in recruiting. The success he has had In-State is directly correlated to his success on the field.
I'm not sure what you're getting confused about...
I said UTs priority should be the state of Georgia. Not "Locking down" the state of Tennessee.
And yes UGA is recruiting out of state well as in-state. Just like we should be....hence the whole recruit Georgia thing???
Does not have anything to do with you bragging about Smart locking down the state, and me saying he didn't this year because of Clemson, Alabama, LSU and Auburn.Furthermore...
25 scholarships a piece every year right?
If UT and UGA were guaranteed that the top 50 recruits in GA had to sign with either one of them and noone else...
It would be TN and UGA vying for the SEC East ever year. On the other hand...UT could be guaranteed the top 25 prospects in TN sign with them, every year, and they aren't winning the division ever year...
Only 23 tackles is certainly a Huge Red Flag
Ok I have held back for long enough. See the thing here is you're saying real silly stuff. The difference between Grimes and kids at BGA is they still have to earn offers while he has all the offer letters in his possession. The problem here is many of you don't get "it". In reality we want to see a kid jump off the screen when watching them play, but in some instances a kid might back down for business purposes. Well in Grimes has all the offers he needs. Whether commitable or not he was offered. Mark my words and hear me clearly when whomever signs this kid they're getting a supreme athlete. He does make plays just check the hghlights from last weeks playoff game. The damn kid played Rb, Fb, TE, H-back, Lb, and DE. When referring to Maleik Gray there is NO comparison here. Maleik simply would make ZERO plays in a game and have zero catches as a Wr. What happened with Gray was the fact that he worked hard in MS, also he was bigger than most everyone and we trained him. All the accolades went to his head then he stopped working and became very average. There was one game Lavergne played I think Blackman and they ran the ball the entire game. He started at Wr and played Lb and SS. The kid did not make one single tkl. The is no such game you can pull up on Grimes like this. The only kid in the mid TN area who plays Lb who is as athletic with talent and ability is JR Colson from Ravenwood.
The services get it right more often than not on the elite guys. How do you think ROY awards are doled out? Whether or not you want to admit it, a Rivals ranking means something to the general public who don't self scout and/or completely discount anything that might suggest our staff isn't getting the players that they really want. Even if it's nothing more than one service's opinion, it's an opinion that matters and that will be cited incessantly by media and opponents as an example of how we're not getting it done.Top prospect by who’s ranking?
