I think sling is one of the cheapest ways to go (along with “some” other TV)

Maybe not if you only want it for Tennessee games.

If you don’t mind “not” watching it live, YouTube the games 20 minutes to a couple hours after the game.

They show track meets/gymnastics, I’ve seen women’s soccer on there, a ton of softball and baseball games. Because of the SEC Network I can watch way more Vol baseball games than I could in the past. It’s not a bill of goods, you can’t stream live sports 24/7 and show every single SEC sporting event it’s just not possible.

If you wanna be mad at someone, be mad at the athletic departments and the people that set up a basketball game on a Saturday in November.
They still have idle channels which should be used to broadcast softball games on the SEC network rather than having to watch them on
espn3 or not even broadcast on the radio. One can see delayed track meets if they are are for the SEC or NCAA championships. Tennis is seldom broadcast on the SEC network. Coverage of the Minor sports is still lacking .

I watch it through the ESPN app
How did you pull it up? I tried watching UT-USC (I think) for the first few minutes when the scheduled network chose instead to play the last death spasms of some directional teachers’ college game, and I was never able to find it on my ESPN phone app.

This whole thing is getting completely ridiculous.

eta: I was using my Charter Spectrum log-in

Live broadcasts are expensive with the camera operators, directors, producers, graphics and lighting staff, announcers, satellite time, and what not. But I'd be happy with just a couple of webcams recording events to be shown later. But people would complain about low quality productions.

UT's Communication Department used to partner with the local PBS affiliate and whatever the Vol Network was at the time to show Saturday Nights at Stokely replays of the basketball games with John Ward's radio broadcast dubbed over the video from 2 or 3 cameras. It was awesome. Used to love going to the games and then hurry home to catch the replays. I can't believe how few of those survived. Video tape used to be expensive.

I'm thinking all of the UT baseball games were broadcast. Many of the SEC+ viewings were two-camera affairs (pressbox and center field).

I still say SEC Network sucks. Why have alternate channels if you don't use them. Before they came along Fox and other affiliates would pick up the games. Now they are streamed and if you don't have 100mbs it's often stop and go and freeze ups at worst times in the game. Screw U SECN.

I think the outrage here is misplaced a bit. Yes, ESPN definitely wants to promote the relatively new ESPN+ subscription, however the game is at 5:00 EST on a football Saturday. There are only so many channels out there and the vast majority of them will be televising football. Blame the scheduler who decided to put this in prime football territory rather than on a week day or after football season had ended.

Besides, you can get a free trial to ESPN+ or even pay $4-$5 for a one time charge to watch the game. Drink two less beers than you normally would and boom the game is paid for.

I think what rubs people the wrong way is that if you have a cable subscription you are already paying for ESPN. If you have ESPNU and some other channels on the network you are paying even more extra. If you sign up for ESPN + a lot of people are paying 3 ways for ESPN and that seems wrong

I bought ESPN + and it’s only $50 for the entire year. You get lots of NHL, and college sports that you would never see otherwise.
Only reason I’d get it is for Peyton’s Places and nfl PRIMETIME with boomer and TJ

I’ve watched ESPN+ content on the app using my xfinity login

Are you sure it was ESPN+ and not SEC+. They are different from what I understand. I've seen SEC+ with my cable credentials but why would ESPN+ be a premium stream if you can just watch it on the app?

I'll be listening on the radio. And if anyone else doesn't like this, that's what you should be doing too. Don't just give in.

I don't think this will work either. Sling only gives you the ESPN TV channels. Not the "exclusive" ESPN content.
