I foubd one finally, and yes they are. It was literally the last stop I was gonna make, and they had one.

They're all over in our part of Georgia. There's a small local chain, but that and ingles is the only thing besides Walmart. Unless we go to Gainesville, they have Kroger and Publix.

We shop at one of the original Ingles stores a few blocks away from our house, aka the "bad Ingles." The newer ones in the burbs are all shiny and stuff.

Another Ingles a bit farther away from ours but definitely not in the burbs is close to an area with a lot of Latinos and has a good selection of Mexican and other Central American food. That Ingles is generally pronounced "Een-gless". har har
