Wow crazy. I couldn't imagine that today.I remember a mock evacuation from my Houston elementary school to a Piggly-Wiggly store in 1962 or '63 (must have been the Cuban missile crisis.) Moms lined up in front of school in their station wagons, and we were all herded into the cars of complete strangers (to us) and driven to the Piggly-Wiggly, where we marched down to the basement, which was a civil defense shelter (hey, lots of canned food.) Then we were driven back to school. Most of us decided that it was at least more fun than duck-and-cover under our desks, plus we missed arithmetic or something. It was scary though, as we were told that the Russians would target Houston because of NASA.
Yes, youngun's, that really happened. My little slice of the Cold War, I guess.
Back when threads ended at 12, 000 posts, we'd count the winner as just whoever had the most posts in that 12,000. Now that the threads keep goung, Windy just started keeping up with whoever hit the 1,000 mark. MBRO kept it updated before he got real sick. The first post in this thread is off, but it was just a fun way to argueWhat's the even K's?
