They aren't 5th in the nation. But they do have some pieces. I do think they are better than KY or Vandy. But it is something to note that they got more pressure on us than SC did.We play UAB at 100% and it's even more of a blowout. They are a solid defense, but with our schedule they'd be lucky to be top 50. We're one of the worse offenses in the nation and hung 23 (should have been more) in the 1st half.
But yeah, they held their own I guess. Figured we'd go for more than 302 yards.
I don't think I've called them elite, have I? I just said their DL is legit. And they did work over those three dudes I just mentioned on Saturday. It isn't just what they did in the passing game. They stoned our running game consistently. We averaged 3.1 ypc against them for a total of 121 yards. For comparison, we ran for 3.5 ypc against SC, 4.1 ypc against Bama, and 4.3 ypc against MSU.Come on Bass, you're the sunshine pumper...HOW DARE YOU!?!
UAB's "elite" defense had 2 sacks playing against a banged up line with a one handed QB who is known to hold the ball far too long.
It is really hard for me to complain about our WRs production, it is not them...it is the QB.Whatever it is, JJ is a whole different animal this year. He didn't takeover last year. This year he's become a specialist at getting open. It's crazy.
Though I was also hoping more out of MC and Palmer too.
Just want Tee to get some elite WR recruits in here at this point. JJ could be a selling point.
I agree with this but imo we were somewhat conservative also and JG has a damn broken hand. Wonder what it would’ve been had mauer played
Lol he’s 3-3 vs top 25 since he took over a 4 win Florida team with wins against #5 LSU, #7 Auburn. A 7point loss vs #8uga and a closer than the score showed 14point loss at #5 LSU. I get youre weird about Mullen but you are reaching bad here lol.Another fun Mehlen fact. He has lost every ranked vs ranked matchup in which he had the higher ranked team.
It certainly didn't help having Wright and Jahmir out, plus Morris being hampered with the shoulder injury, although his real problem was with the speed of that edge rusher. But I think you are correct that the staff was pretty conservative with the offense as long as UAB didn't really give them any real concerns offensively. I think they want everyone as close to full speed as possible for the last 3-game SEC push.
I hope we’re healthy enough to win SatKentucky has played 2 top 10 teams and is only giving up 21.2 a game...I don't think UAB's defense is anywhere near the same league as theirs.
UAB "held" us to 302 yards, but gave up 30 in 3 quarters to a 92nd rated scoring offense (which was lower before the game) with a one handed QB playing.
Their defense is highly overrated, since they haven't even managed to play a single team with a higher rated scoring offense than us. 3 of their next 4 opponents are better offenses than us though, so we'll see where they end up.
Had the same team (health & energy) that played South Carolina played UAB we would have hung 50+ on them.
Do you want to know why other SEC teams do not have a hostile local media herd of turds like we do? It is because normal SEC fanbases don't put with that crap, much less encourage/enable it.When I don’t care? I prove it. Devo’s formed a virtual support group to deal with the injustice and Geaux and you bring him the occasional donut.
