Better chance that we invent time travel this year than vandy beating florida

I must be the minority, I think JG gives us a better chance to win football games over Shrout. Shrout shows flashes and has potential, but he is not ready.

Our defense is playing dominant football right now. They are why we are winning football games. Pruitt is riding on this defense and playing the guy who he believes is least likely to blow a game. It is conservative, and could be debated, but if it was my choice, I am starting JG over Shrout easily.

Maurer on the other hand opens up the offense due to his natural playmaking ability and his ability move around in/out of the pocket. If he is 100% ready to go, he has to be your QB. His upside is greater than the downside from his inexperience IMO. I can't say that with Shrout.
Agree with everything but "JG over Shrout, EASILY". It would be a really tough call for me but would probably lean JG.

I really like that in stride deep ball from JT, so it kills me to see him get pulled.

But this comes down to 1 simple thing - Do I trust that Pruitt has a valid reason based on info I'm not privy to?
I've made that decision and I trust him to handle things.
He's been prone to rookie HC mistakes but he's also proven to learn from them and adjust quickly. If he's sticking with this, there's a reason, imo.

So Maurer has played 5 games... No RS for him. Good thing he got all of 1 or 2 series vs UTC.

JT took his RS last year. He's only played in 4 this year.

Maurer definitely would've benefited from a RS year. He won't ever get one at this point.

Worked out for Dobbs just fine though...
Are you complaining about our staff playing Brian Maurer this fall?

But, there is hope the Shrout can get better, I think everyone has decided that that is impossible for Guarantano

Think we'll play multiple QBs the rest of the season. Not force anyone to carry the load, protect Maurer from taking too many hits, take some of the pressure off of JG, continue to get reps for Shrout and use the wildcat when we need JJ to be JJ. QB by committee-- that's the path to a bowl. It's not what anyone expected, but practical in our situation.

WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T GO TO THE FF. Just an FYI.

Funny, I was perusing the Texas message boards, Surlyhorns.com, and they also have a separate board for football and for recruiting. The football forum is almost totally in full "Fire Tom Herman Now!!!!" mode, and while the recruiting forum posters have their concerns about recent events and the direction of the program, they all refer to the football forum posters as a bunch of crazies and overreactionaries.

If only you people would quit leaving the door open and letting those crazies wander over here. I'm an advocate for the RF to be invite only.

Yes, but the question becomes, do you want the staff to play someone so they can get better if it means it increases our likelihood of losing? Or do you want them to play the one that can manage the game your defense can win until the starter comes back?

Offensive line play was poor last night. They didn’t show any energy or intensity. They knew they could beat UAB at 50% effort. Still not what any of us want to see. For this program to take a step forward we need the team to bring total focus each and every week. Defense and special teams did their part. Offense did enough. On to KY

So I went to the UGA vs FL game yesterday... I wore an orange Tennessee hat. And the people I was tailgating with were UGA boosters... one of which was yelling "look at this ugly ass hat" when the UGA marching band was walking by. They all went to heckle until I said "IF ANYONE WANTS TO KNOW HOW TO BEAT SOUTH CAROLINA, WE HAVE AN EXTRA CHAIR AND I'LL BE TAKING QUESTIONS."

Cold. Steel. Dagger to the heart. Beautifully executed!

I think UK will be favored by 4 or 5 against the Vols
Our Vols will win by 10+. This train is picking up a lot of steam. With every win, we play with more and more confidence. Once all of the energy settles down after the first quarter, we will see our guys start taking over. Pruitt has done what we thought was impossible after the beginning to the season… He and this staff have somehow raised this team and program from the ashes! We are on our way back… Let’s all enjoy the ride!

Thoughtful post. Even better with Chargervol's amendment.
Think how far the team has come for people to be melting down over a dominating win!!!
It's a sign of a good team to win on an offensive down night.

I think it is "horses for courses" from here on out, with all four playing, depending on the situation.
Would expect us to try to put Kentucky's run game in a hole early next week, so an offensive game plan more like the USCjr win would be my guess. That means more time for the young throwers.
But I am very confident in what Pruitt and company decide on.
