I'm curious as to how much of the profit off those shirts Admiral is entitled? I mean there is a lot that goes into the production, transaction and sales of these jerseys. Who is going to negotiate with Nike on the student athletes behalf on how much Admiral's contract should be and for how long?
Agents. They’ll sign with agents right out of high school

I guarantee you Admiral would say "Anything is better than nothing." What the compensation is I don't know, but you have to start somewhere. Even if it was pennies on the dollar, over-time that adds up, and for some of these kids who come from families struggling back home those pennies probably make a huge difference.

First, you keep changing the analogy to try and prop up your own argument rather than staying consistent. Second, if you think college athletics will die because the players are allowed to recoup money that the schools/NCAA are making off their image you are sorely mistaken. So you're telling me your entire enjoyment of the sport of college athletics is based on the ability to prevent someone for earning what they're worth? That seems both selfish and completely misguided. College athletics aren't going anywhere, and this fear-mongering only poisons actual productive conversation from occurring.

I'm not changing the analogy. The P-5 IS THE MINOR LEAGUES. Make the participants professionals and the disguise and interest plummets.

Who is going to be there to protect the struggling kid from all of the scum predators that are going to be out acting like they have the student athletes best interest when all they will be doing is trying to cash in too?

So are you going to stop watching collegiate sports once this rule goes into effect?

Absolutely not, lol. This is like a Game of Thrones fan complaining about how awful Season 8 is and then still watching the season finale anyway. None of these people are going to stop watching college sports. They just are looking for a new reason to complain. If it's not this then it's something else.

So, what, is the better response to just do nothing?

It will definitely change how many people view the sport, it'll never be the same. There is still something special and different about being an amateur athlete I feel.

I don't think so. Agents (Lawyers) are a big no no with the NCAA, pure hatred exists between the 2. They'll force the Universities to provide council most likely.
Guaranteed it will happen. As soon as anyone feels they’re being unfairly compensated they’ll get lawyers involved. Which will be basically as soon as this goes into effect.

I agree, but as soon as they sign with a lawyer or agent they'll be declared ineligible. I don't see the NCAA ever changing that rule.

How do you all feel about universities owning the intellectual property of work developed by students? Universities provide the resources to carry out the work and retain the rights. Some of which can be massively lucrative

Yes. Once the best players go to the highest bidders instead of where they have an opportunity to be the star... I'm out.

Oh yikes.....hey you might want to take a seat. You see, I have some bad news for you. That's already happening. It's SHOCKING I know. The sport is going to hate losing your viewership, and I'm sorry to break this awful news to you. It pains me.

I just don't understand why people want to complain about others being able to make money off of themselves. It literally has no effect on their lives, yet they want to complain as if it is a personal attack against them.

It's pretty simple, most of these bitter old men wish that they had the talent to compete and make money for playing a sport, and because they do not, they will spend an eternity griping about how much money these athletes make.

At least he has a college education should he need it. Also, he probably doesn't have $100k in student loans that will be an anchor on his neck for the next 20 years.
Absolutely. This is the entitlement we’re dealing with. I’d say most of these kids have no real equivalence on the value of the time they spent at university.
They are pampered and hand held their entire time: treated like heroes. And imagine the future opportunity this affords them just from being a part of the program.

You don’t honk there are local companies that will pay him to do promos since he did nothing more than play a game and get a free education? Ale advantage now. Where are you?
