Unless Lincoln riley leaves, i see no way we have an edge on Oklahoma in any way really. That’s a brutal game to have early for anyone. They are also a really young team too.

8 of their Starters on offense including their entire OL are FR or SO and half their defensive starters are freshman and sophomores.

I know they lose Hurts but at this point, does it really matter who’s QB for them?
Their center might move on to the NFL. He’s a critical part of their oline.

Way to many question marks about our team to project next year though.

I'd rather play OU 2nd game of the season with a brand new QB and/or brand new HC/Staff than later in the year after they've figured things out. That's the "edge" play 'em before they establish their new identity.

Honestly I just want to see us win 3 more games this season. Mostly it'll be a "disappointing" season this year regardless because we dropped the first two home games, but salvaging a bowl game with a strong finish will help with recruiting and ultimately the team getting extra practice will be big in their continued growth.

Next year's team should be a 6 win floor, I like the potential to win 8...could reach 9 or 10 if we pull off an upset or two. Playing at Oklahoma isn't great, but it's an early in the season game so we might have an edge there. We get Florida here this year and I think if we play relatively good mistake free football there isn't the talent gap with them that exist with Alabama or Georgia.
Charlotte
@ Oklahoma
Furman
Florida
Missouri
@ South Carolina

BYE
Alabama
@ Arkansas
Kentucky

@ Georgia
Troy
@ Vanderbilt

Just wish oklahoma game was against someone like Rutgers or northwestern.

this is my hometown. It's straight bull. The county and the city systems have open zoning, but the TSSAA is taking issue because of bus routes. These boys went undefeated and had to deal with the death of a teammate in the middle of the season. Now they are robbing them of their victories and passion after they sent a letter to the school clearing that player to play in September. Bull.

I went through the Fayetteville City School System before they had a high school. I hardly ever make it to Fayetteville anymore though due to being so busy all the time, so I knew of none of this

The money from boosters will just be diverted. Instead of making a capital contribution, a booster might pay an athlete for advertisement.

Be careful what you ask for. I know players would rather want money in their pocket, but it most likely means that schools aren’t updating their facilities as often because they aren’t getting that money. All of these accessories that players are getting (lounges, etc.) will somewhat go away. Just the nature of money going somewhere else.

That, in turn, hurts the third stringer or the long snapper. He isn’t getting endorsements and is also not getting the benefit of the nice facilities.

I did as well. Did you graduate from LCHS? If so, what year?

I’ll give you new staff edge but i don’t think it matters who’s at QB for riley and that offense.
Hell Even bass will tell you that hurts was bad and would’ve been another worthless grad transfer if we went after him.

Guys it’s very simple how the NCAA will manage paying players.

The NCAA will charge a nominal fee of $995 for any appearance, autograph signing, photo op, etc. for a single athlete. The athlete will get to keep 100% of half of 10% and the rest will remain with the NCAA to help cover their administrative fees for documentation, handling, lawyers, paperwork, processing, record keeping, tax prep, data storage, etc.

They have the best interest in mind for the student athlete and will be able to use this extra money to help them facilitate their collegiate career.

You could also see some clever boosters paying for travel for an appearance, but not paying for the appearance.

Henry T for example, family is in California...probably expensive to visit. UT booster pays for Henry T to travel there and have room/board for the 3 days but the appearance is an unpaid agreement to receive the travel/room & board incentives.

It's what most the social media/influencers/content creators are usually offered. Honestly, I could be wrong but I see the players just using their names to make some coin from social media, it's little to no effort and most gain thousands of followers the moment they start getting recruited. Would be fairly easy to start making weekly post about new headphones you got & love. Rather than having to show up at a car lot and sign autographs, but what do I know...

I think a lot of people are not reading the NCAA closely enough here. I think what they are proposing is allowing players to use their likenesses in situations that are not related to football. For example, a famous case had a kicker for Colorado that was also a professional skier. The NCAA disallowed him from getting sponsorships for skiing because they thought it could have a tangential connection to his football performance. I think these type of situations are the ones that the NCAA is going to allow. Unless it's a large group action with minimal individual negotiations (like a NCAA video game), I doubt the NCAA is going to allow players to make money off of their likeness directly related to the sport they play.

I also think that the NCAA is still ultimately protecting the current power/money system, so I could see them only allowing likeness uses where part of the revenue goes back to the school (jersey sales, commercials promoting the school with the player being paid a portion). I definitely do not think they are going to let these players make money off of their likeness using the sport they play where the school doesn't get any funding as well.

Well I guess what I mean is, in these situations, I always wonder how the night goes.

The dream if you’re that kid is it all goes perfectly and you end the night the way every high school kid dreams of ending prom night - only you got to say it was with a model.

In reality you know these models show up for an hour to take pictures and share a couple dances then they leave and you never hear from them again. And your buddies make fun of you for it for the rest of your life lol.
Why not just hire a stripper?

As a person who has worked in higher ed for fifteen years now, this is the most likely scenario.

Have no clue what will happen but 100% certain the vote followed their usual motto.

"We are here for the benefit of the NCAA and if this happens to help student athletes somehow, well, ok. I guess".
