Wouldn't say "scared" but both Mizzou and UK can give us serious fits and are probably "pick ems" by Vegas or 2-3 pt favs for having home field. UK has a great OL and Bowden is a threat. Mizzou is an enigma. We could get good home Mizzou or really bad away Mizzou. Hopefully their away team stays in Columbia that weekend.3 weeks ago I would have said Mizzou was better but now it's a toss up. The rest of our schedule doesn't scare me. What scares me is a young team with no experience of having success getting complacent and laying an egg one week.
While UAB has shown good pass blocking, they are 116th in run blocking Line Yards. Their workhorse only averages 3.3 YPC, while 2 guys that get fewer carries both average over 5. A bit of a Hurd situation it appears to me. We should be able to dedicate fewer resources to stopping the run than normal and focus on pass defense and creating turnovers. Would expect a heavy dose of exotic zones to confuse and create turnovers.
Their DL on the other hand is #2 nationally in LY and #13 in sack rate. Granted, that's an awful schedule, but it shouldn't fool us either. We heard Charlotte had a very good run D last year and most ignored it due to schedule, yet they shut us down as well as anyone all year. Hopefully we don't take this game like Charlotte and just bang our heads against the wall (obviously our run game is significantly improved, but still). They have no answer for our big WRs and I hope we absolutely go ballistic with those weapons.
We have idiots saying we should do the same thing with Butch. Some have never heard the phrase "pick your battles".I’m sure this will help with their next coaching search.

i don't expect a let down at all. i get why it's easy to say that, homecoming game sandwiched between conf games, and coming off the win.
but i expect this team is still pretty damn hungry sitting at 3-5 with what looks like could be a dynamite finish on the horizon....i know the staff will be. and i just won't let myself think they are going to look past this game.
How to attack Kentucky’s defense:
KY run defense against SEC opponents (6 games)
220 attempts, 1169 yards, 5.31 ypa, 14 TDs
KY Pass defense against SEC opponents (6 games)
147 attempts, 88 completions, 59.9%, 941 yards, 6.4 ypa, 2 TDs, 2 Ints., rating 115.40
Our running backs should have their best game of the season. jmo.
How to attack Missouri’s defense:
Wyoming Fr QB Sean Chambers, 12 rushing attempts, 120 yards, 1 TD
Ole Miss Fr QB John Rhys Plumlee, 23 rushing attempts, 143 yards, 2 TDs
Kentucky JR WR turned QB Lynn Bowden Jr, 21 rushing attempts, 204 yards, 2 TDs
Maurer healthy or Jennings as more than a wildcat QB and we should do good. jmo.
That's what I said yesterday. Folks can scoff at the level of competition that UAB has faced, but they're still 6-1 coming off a bye. They'll be ready. Our guys better be.
Must have been doing something to control the line or affect plays. He graded out as our 2nd best run defender, but only had 1 tackle and 1 stop. Glad someone else is giving him credit.Interesting listening to JS and he’s raving about ASoloman playing very well Saturday. That’s one guy I didn’t notice and wouldn’t have guessed that
It's still sooo bad. Please god can we just practice rz offense all practice? What about running JJ wildcat every time within the 10? Idk we need something, anything. We are still DEAD LAST in the SEC in the rzWe’ve gotta get better at red zone offense if we’re gonna win out. We can’t just rely on big explosive plays to score

WR reverse with pass option first, which JJ threw successfully to Calloway, but the play was called back on lineman downfield (I think it was the center with no one around him to cover him or for him to block iirc.) It's easy to find: our second offensive play.Did JJ tuck and run or did he throw it from the wildcat the other day? Or was that an end around with pass option? Cant remember.
