I think the baseball uniforms are cool. Not that I hated them that much, but Adidas had us in old school Astros uniforms.
They also had us in some God awful checkerboard **** and whatever the **** these were. adidas.jpg

I have been a fan of the Nike gear and what I see on the field, but I also bought a pair of those Nike React Element 55 shoes so I may be a little weird

Anyone else notice the change in style of play recently or I guess maybe aggression? Past two games I have noticed more OL playing through whistle putting people on their ass all the way until they hear the play blown dead instead of stopping after they finish their first block or think play is away from them. On defense I am seeing more gang tackling, several times I have seen nearly 5-6 orange jerseys surrounding a ball carrier smothering him. Guys diving on our own guys to make sure the player goes down. People putting their bodies on the line and chasing down plays instead of only if it’s to their side. Something feels like it has clicked

If I'm Pruitt, I basically tell my team to not give a f@#$ about the scoreboard next week, and just focus on whipping someone's @#$ every play. Bama don't get that often. Let's see how they react.

Mullen would likely have had the program in a better spot right now, in large part due to the experience he had as a head coach in this league. When comparing the two, my gut has always told me that Pruitt has a higher upside than Mullen. That being said, I think Mullen is a very solid coach who would have had us winning somewhere between 8 and 11 games year in and year out. Wouldn't call him an elite recruiter by any stretch but I've always felt that Tennessee recruits itself. If you put forth effort at all you're going to get players here.
I think there was a time when TN recruited itself. In large part because of superior facilities and people knowing TN the way Pruitt remembers them. Now, everyone has facilities and big recruiting budgets. And now kids have to be told about how good we once were.
With 3 National recruiters of the year, we hit 6th in our conference.

I remember people questioning Dan's ability to recruit to TN and I still do. But most, myself included, also said that he would do great at Fl. I've seen nothing to make me change my mind considering everything has happened exactly as expected.

Austin Thomas is making an example of us!!!!

Honestly I feel like Texas is a wasted effort state to recruit. TCU, Texas, Baylor, A&M, SMU, Houston all in state...OU, Louisiana, OK State...it's a big state sure, but lots of teams are more than willing to fill their signing class with the highly rated 3, 4 and 5 stars that are far closer to them than us.

Austin plays Kirby’s game crazier than even old Kirby plus you got Jimbo

I was sick when it ended up that we didnt hire him.

It would take a bunch of miracles to happen. For instance several critical type Bubba TOs with points scored off of them, and injuries to several key players (Like Tua, that would be a huge deal), and several critical ST plays...in other words a huge amount of fluke things, along with the whole team giving total maximum effort across the board with no breakdowns at all..that is usually how monumental upsets happen.
I say why not us?!

I don't subscribe to the notion that we didn't play well offensively on Saturday. If you look at numbers, we had 357 yards on just 58 plays, and controlled to ball for 33+ minutes. That's 6.16 y/p and .56 minutes per play.

Compare that with what Alabama did on Saturday against A&M: They had 448 yards on 65 plays, and they had the ball for 29 minutes. that's 6.89 y/p and .48 minutes per play.

We showed slightly better ball control, and only slightly worse yards per play than Alabama did against a similar defense.

Now, they scored 48 and we scored 20 --- but we only needed 13 to win; they needed at least 28.

I don't think we played poorly at all on offense Saturday -- in fact, I think it was our best offensive game of the season (outside UTC). We did exactly what we needed to do on offense to win the game.

Main difference is RZ, but also starting field position. They started with avg FP of 47.5...nearly midfield! They returned kicks of all sorts for a bunch of yards. Then they alsp had a blocked punt for a TD.

Our starting FP was only 34.5. Not good.

Spread moved to 18.5. Greenline has it 17.5. Lsu has played 2 road games. 28 over terrible Vandy and 7 over Texas.

I think Vandy and Miss St are similar teams. Still like the cover. LSU gonna stomp 'em. They will score at will.

State can't afford to fire him after year 2. They had success under Mullen but only after a few years and with him scheduling 6 gauranteed wins every year. If they fire Moorehead now very few coaches are going to want to go there and they were never a great landing spot. The fanbase is mad as hell and wants him gone but they've forgotten that with the exception of their super-recent history and the occasional good season in previous years they've been Kentucky/Vanderbilt and now their version of James Franklin is gone. There's a reason their permanent cross division rival is UK.
Boy, that has a familiar sound to it, doesn't it?

Yeah, I get the appeal of good recruiters.

But honestly I feel like you need top notch positional coaches who can develop talent. The reason why the "powerhouse" schools are where they are is because they take the 3, 4 and 5 star guys and more often than not turn them into elite college players and many become NFL players. Then the next year when you're sitting in a living room talking to a 17 or 18 year old prospect you don't have to do much to recruit them.

Do you really buy into this stuff? Put him at wake forest and he’s not making any noise. You can only recruit as well as your program allows imo.

Well he's also done a very good job with the DL and we all know Pittman is one of the best OL coaches and recruiters. I mean look at Tracy Rocker. He's known as a decent DL coach but a lousy recruiter. Seems like an upgrade to me.

I agree. I think you want both.

Maybe if you're an Ole Miss, State, Vandy, or UK fan. It's the opposite for us. We've had blip of blah amidst a much longer history of success. We have the resources, money, and history those teams don't. It's what's made the recent past so shameful. But we're in no position to be firing anyone after year 2 either.

Very common for good coaches to become good recruiters once they get to a big time program that allows for it. Not the case for the opposite scenario. Get good coaches, let your program recruit for you. That’s how you end up with Walt wells, Larry Scott, Kevin beard, Sal sunseri? Etc.
