If you are still talking about whether or not Gray will be a superstar then I am not sure you actually did understand it.

But getting past that, the post I responded to tongue in cheek didn't mention no longer recruiting superstar players from Memphis, only no longer recruiting players period from Memphis. You are the only one who interjected superstar/not a superstar into the convo.

Hopefully JG plays. I’m interested to see if he can perform as well as he did against state. That was the guy we expected to see coming into the season. Didn’t ask him to do much other than play smart.

I’m hoping we have the same mentality against bama this week: run the ball, kill clock, and play sound defense. Keep Tua and the WR corp off the field as much as possible

It would lessen the time for programs like us now to turn the corner, maybe. Crazy I know but I'm sure some of u innovative guys here on VN could come up with a plan.
As it is now it seems we are going to see the same teams in the playoffs year in and year out..

Eh, it's more Florida compared to Tenn. If Pruitt and Mullen were switched I'm guessing Pruitt would have done a little better and Mullen would have done a little worse up to this point. I'm not so sure Mullen would have us in a much better spot, maybe a little, but not the results he's getting at Florida.

Right. Mississippi State people need to remember that they're Mississippi State. Bottom two or three program in this league currently and traditionally speaking. This is the major reason why I never understood people when the argument was made that because Mullen was in the 7-9 win range at MSU, that's what he'd be at UF. That argument made zero sense.

Fair enough and I like State but they're going to need more history and hardware if they want to get away with pulling the trigger that quickly. Really, doing it in year 2 isn't a good idea for anyone (including schools like Alabama) short of some major scandal brewing -- an Alabama type could survive it and still get a good hire but it would also take some good options off the table.

You could do it in basketball and get away with it if you had a solid program but in football you're playing with fire.

He's also a true freshman playing behind two experienced RBs who are better at pass protecting than he is.

Ty Chandler totaled 305 rushing yards as a true freshman and really only shined when he filled in for John Kelly against Kentucky. But I'd say he's proven he's a really good play-maker since then. Maybe we should stop trying to bury a kid just because he isn't all-conference in his 1st 6 games of his UT career.

It would take a bunch of miracles to happen. For instance several critical type Bubba TOs with points scored off of them, and injuries to several key players (Like Tua, that would be a huge deal), and several critical ST plays...in other words a huge amount of fluke things, along with the whole team giving total maximum effort across the board with no breakdowns at all..that is usually how monumental upsets happen.

If we finish the year strong, I wouldn't be for shuffling the staff around very much, if at all. As bad as the season started, if we end up with 5 or 6 wins, it's clear that the team improved. Granted it's not hard to improve after losing to GSU, but the team could have mailed it in after that start. Would say a lot about the coaches if they can manage that IMO.
