Did you not watch the game Sunday? Mariota can’t hit a simple out route. He’s played much worse than the oline
Oh I watchrd it all, and he has been terrible against two good Defenses. I was talking season overall though. My point is, until OL plays better, i don't expect significantly better outcomes with Tannehill, either.

See, you're starting to put it all together now. Keep going.

No you're acting like they are going head to head with us, but really we have lost 2 two them. LOL
Keep making it sound like we keeping going head to head with A&M for every in state kid. "They are plucking everyone from in state" Uh they have 2.
Making it sound like losing King and Johnson hurt, it didn't.
What else you got?
All I'm saying is you're overreacting to 2-3 players.

They are basically the same distance from Memphis as Knoxville so I wouldn't say they are plucking anything. You guys and your borders thinking that means anything to a Memphis kid. SMDH.

That's right. And just like Pruitt said in the post game press conference..."Will we win every game like that? No. But it was the best way to WIN THIS GAME." That's coaching and adjusting. Nothing matters but W's. Not how or why. Just win. They did that.

I really like this quote. He's said from the beginning he prefers to be aggressive, but knowing that he can change his approach based on the situation is good. So many coaches don't do that. They do the same thing every time, and other teams pick up on those tendencies.

I also generally prefer to stay aggressive, but the way that defense was playing, and the success of the run game coupled with the opportunistic passing really made their approach the logical response.

Crazy thing though...had Maurer made a bit better decisions and not got hurt. I have no doubt we could have hung 30+ on them and really opened the game up.

Losing Maurer changed the game plan moving forward, and honestly I don't blame Pruitt & co at all for adjusting offensively to the game. The only way Miss. State was going to win that game is if they were able to tire out the defense and start making chunk gains, so the best way to prevent that is every drive on offense needs to eat as much clock as possible even if we end up punting. JG not missing any of the limited throws was big as well.

Agreed. I think one of the positive side effects of the strategy was it let JG settle in a bit and not to feel like he had to win the game all by himself.

Amazing what a defense that's dominating can do for a team.

Also just looked it up...

A&M has 19 commits already.
11 are from Texas (including Haynes King)
1 is from TN a 3 star DT named Dallas Walker

Chris Morris is from Arkansas, Antonio Johnson is from Illinois, Mushin Muhamad from NC... what I don't get is these kids are all 4 star grading over 93 but they chose to mention Tennessee as the "bad trend" despite them all having offers from Alabama. Isn't the bigger story why they didn't pick Bama?

Because we were trending with King and Morris and had Johnson committed to us at one point.
So us "losing" those kids is what put us on that tweet.

King committed to A&M 3 months ago though...Johnson a month ago, Morris was the only recent commit for A&M.

I think most people expect King to stay in or near Texas and he wasn't going to commit to a team with another high level QB. The kid doesn't like competition, that was discovered at the Elite 11.

Also I'm not entirely sure we're 100% out on Dallas Walker. He might be a potential flip or A&M might let him go to create space.

Morris is in West Memphis, right? And didn't he just transfer there recently? Think he was from TN before. Might as well be considered in-state.

Anyone else notice the change in style of play recently or I guess maybe aggression? Past two games I have noticed more OL playing through whistle putting people on their ass all the way until they hear the play blown dead instead of stopping after they finish their first block or think play is away from them. On defense I am seeing more gang tackling, several times I have seen nearly 5-6 orange jerseys surrounding a ball carrier smothering him. Guys diving on our own guys to make sure the player goes down. People putting their bodies on the line and chasing down plays instead of only if it’s to their side. Something feels like it has clicked

This should be why we are excited for the last half of the season, and not go into full meltdown after a Bama loss this year. I have a secret unspoken, but now spoken hope that we actually cover the spread against Bama. That would be a great sign in the change of direction in the program to me.
