I so wanted to write JG off. Then he keeps proving he is a good teammate . I still believe Maurer gives us the best chance going forward. Tip of the hat JG . Sometimes the mvp isn't the best player.
It is surprising to me that he has not completely gone into the tank what with the Broadway Jay persona that he tried to project before he came here.

Two consecutive weeks of Maurer being dinged up. Logical for coaches to rest Maurer, let him heal and rely on JG to manage the Bama game... and Chaney to manage JG. Apparently, the coaches feel more comfortable moving Crouch and Beasley to fill in for Henry T and provide backup at ILB than they do having JJP in the 2-deep. I suppose that could change if he has a good practice week.

Idk why he added this. Kind of awkward. Thanks for the example Hubbs....I guess.
Seems exactly fitting to the situation he is expounding on. Not sure why it would "stick out" in that post?

I've been off the forum for a while and missed it during the game, who replaced HT? Crouch, JJP?

Also, I wouldn't be surprised to see Maurer not play against Bama. Sit him a week and play JG and Shrout. Get through the weekend healthy.
For the most part, Crouch. Solon Page played some in the 4th too. I don’t think JJP played any in the 4th.

Just thinking out loud, but is Byrd for CFA avail for a RS?
I couldn’t believe how much muscle Byrd has packed on. Dude is jacked. That was the first time I had seen him up close on camera.

So I know it’s hard to give JG credit around here but I think it’s due. Sure he wasn’t asked to do much but he delivered when asked.

1) the check down to 9 was something we hadn’t seen from him. He surveyed the field and felt the pressure. He held on to go ball precisely long enough to let the flat open up and we converted a game changing 3rd down

2) the TD to Byrd was a RPO that he clearly made the correct read on. Sure it wasn’t a tough throw but he made the correct decision.

3) the throw to 80 was beautiful.

4) the only incompletion of the day might have been his best throw. He was under heavy pressure and delivered a ball to JJ that could have and maybe should have been caught. It would have been a tough catch but the ball was put in the only place it could have been with the safety being over the top.

Simply put we don’t win the game yesterday if he doesn’t play flawlessly even if he wasn’t asked to do much.
I agree. JG has been an easy target but if you are gonna criticize him when he's been bad, you should give him his due when he does well. I was happy for him yesterday. I'll admit I had very little confidence he could lead the Vols to a victory. Thoughts of BYU crept in. I'm so glad he proves me wrong.

Tip of the hat to JG.

Next year he might be in the NFL... I don't know who they have behind him, but it's gonna be interesting to see what kind of team they are in 2020. I'm sure they'll still be the best in the SEC East, but I bet we start giving them a real fight going forward.

Also, they get Alabama in the regular season. Finally.
Watch, Saban will retire after this year.

So Missouri is going to be sitting at 7-1 coming off a BYE week when they play Georgia. Missouri is a far better team than they get credit for
There schedule is the worst In football. They are very average. We will beat them with a bye.
