i think it's safe to say that there was a pattern there, and not the first issue...prolly some stuff we don't, and won't ever, know about....speculating, i don't know that to be the case either.....just having those two videos show up back to back, which is well done by the medit btw, isn't a good look and begs the question.............what else is there? hard not to believe there's not more...I don’t think what Banks did in that video is earning of a dismissal. But the fact that it came right after the “shoot cops” comment shows poor judgement. Add to the fact we live in a hyper sensitive don’t even give a woman a dirty look society now.
But I also think there were things behind the scenes that the team was not happy about. Pruitt’s commented about how Banks could be the best LB he’s ever coached if he did the right things Sunday through Friday is pretty telling. At first glance, I just assumed it was a lack of film study. But maybe, considering recent events, it’s an indicator that he was referring to both a lack of effort and questionable character things. A lot of out late at night “I been thuggin” activities.
Nevertheless, de1conely is very connected to a lot of those Memphis kids and has their best interest in mind. He obviously has a biased view and has a dog in the fight. However if you look at it from the coaches position, PR angle, and the trying to rebuild with kids who love Football and do whatever to win, maybe it made sense.
I would’ve preferred a suspend indef and make 2019 a redshirt so he could focus on getting his **** together, but I don’t know the whole story.
The JUCO guys just aren’t good football players and I’m not betting on any of them to contribute besides Gooden who is coming off a torn ACL.I am hopeful for this DL next year, I think as fans we all bought too much into Savion, Solomon, & Middleton. Usually JUCO or older transfers with 2 years somewhere aren't suddenly going to be elite just because they go to a different or bigger school.
Gooden injury hurt the DL unit a lot though. Not that he is/was that much better but the fact he took so much of the reps as a 1 and then to lose him that close to opening day was just poor luck.
I think Elijah Simmons, Emerson, Garland, & Harris all will look and play better next season. We may start to see some emergency this year, we have some from Emerson & Garland already. In a 3-4 though you really need some size and strength at the point of attack. Simmons looks the part, but his conditioning may just not be up to snuff yet and they want to RS him.
For sure need an elite DL class though like we had last year for OL, we're seeing that those 4/5 star SEC bodies pay off from how much improvement the OL has shown. I still think Rocker would be the first on staff I'd send packing, I feel better about Weinke/Chaney after seeing what they got out of Maurer with 2 weeks as starter reps.
Gotta be able to utilize players with their measurables. I’ve defended Rocker but might have to own another wrong.I am hopeful for this DL next year, I think as fans we all bought too much into Savion, Solomon, & Middleton. the DL returning everyone is obviously a good thing. there'll be experience, all of it, returning. getting Gooden back will be big.I am hopeful for this DL next year, I think as fans we all bought too much into Savion, Solomon, & Middleton. and we have seen countless more not flash in their first 5 games and still be great players.
Crouch is gonna be fine....i really wouldn't worry about him like this.I guess I like to look that a little closer before agreeing if you are talking about guys that played significant snaps like crouch.
Guys like AJ Johnson and Curt Maggitt flashed very strongly in their first few games. Obviously Derek Barnett, Eric berry, AL wilson and others did as well.
We need Crouch to develop into at worst a Curt Maggit type player. I am
Drawing a blank on a true freshmen that got significant snaps on Defense that didn’t “flash” early that developed into a hell of a player. I’m sure there are a few but I can’t think of any

Williams should be playing a ton and I’ve never believed in Middleton - knew too much about him from high school.
We need a coaching change at that position and 5 good high school prospects.
I live in the Nashville area now and the Zone is great. It’s a top tier station from a sound and production standpoint. Feels like a real radio station. We’re moving back to Knoxville in a month so I began listening to the Sports Animal when the season started.i listen daily, and agree. i get over it because generally they don't have a ton of callers....so it's not a huge issue.
that and i can't listen to anything on the flagship except some of the Ainge show.
not going to go quite as harsh on the juco ranks as you, but i do get the point. it's got an inherent risk. the reward though can be very good if you're evaulations are good.Yeah we kinda knew Middleton wasn’t going to do much. But I think a lot of people bought the Savion hype. The juco film looked violent, and let’s be honest, he just looks the part of a menacing DL.
But both juco guys are trash.
I’m all for avoiding JUCO altogether unless they’re like Jordan Davis - a kid with commitable offers to P5 programs out of high school but go JUCO for whatever reason. The hit rate on these Juco kids is low enough as it is.
And that includes I’d consider dropping Art Green from this class.

OMG. It’s terrible. It feels so hoky and amateur. Horrible segments, too many trivia games and awful hosts. Especially the afternoon show. I can’t stand it. I guess I’ll just keep the Zone on iheart radio when I’m there.
@de1conley is in the Banks thread with comments about our losing fan base and program. So, do you hate this staff and Tennessee again? @de1conley You were talking how we needed guys like in the 90’s selling drugs out of the dorm like Bama and Georgia do. Is this what the rest of you think we need to be winners again? Guys like Banks? Seems like trainers would guide them to better choices.
Knowing what @Bassmaster_Vol, @Ron Swanson, and others have said in this thread regarding Pruitt we MUST as a fanbase support and give this team the best chance to get back on the right track. That means not allowing those UGAly fans to take over Neyland. I have some thoughts on the matter. If you already have tickets: go. If you can buy tickets for cheap: go. If someone is giving them to you for free: go. If you are selling them because yo honestly can't make it: sell them to another UT fan. I understand how annoying/frustrating it has been the past 10 years, but think about what would happen if this fanbase truly rallied behind Pruitt and showed recruits how awesome it is to have a fanbase like UT fans? Even though we are losing and in a bad place and we showed that much support. It would extremely help Pruitt in recruiting. So here is my suggestion: go.
Savian was horribly out of shape when he got here from what i heard. Just like JJ Peterson a big red flagI am hopeful for this DL next year, I think as fans we all bought too much into Savion, Solomon, & Middleton.
