The two primary reasons that 2017 went so wrong:
1. Shoop and CBJ hated each other after working together in 2016.
2. Scott as OC was doomed because of lack of experience and not having a QB. A good QB could have covered his inexperience, but he was doomed with JG and QD.
We have missed on QB recruiting for several years now. Maurer or Bailey better be a home run.
meh. ...a lot of coaches would go with the experienced QB....considering your options behind him....
this conversation about the QB is almost a non starter for me cause i just don't think there are any real good options. wanna go with experience, fine, make sense. wanna go with the young guy and see what energy he brings, if he can make plays or affect people around him, fine, makes sense.
i don't think it matters one way or the other in this game. i think we'll see at least 2 qb's play no matter who trots out there to take the first snap.
Hot take...
James Franklin and Butch Jones are mirror image coaches with a few lucky/unlucky decisions between them to separate one from the other
I am sure they have some sources. I am equally sure that the staff tries to stay as secretive as they can about personnel decisions. My point is that it is a guess, possibly more educated than most people here, but it is still a guess and that them commenting that something changed on Wednesday does not carry much credence with me.I maybe haven’t paid as much attention as I should’ve - what have they missed on that’s been so egregious?
I’m not defending them - just saying I know for a fact they have multiple eyes on the ground for every major thing that happens over there.
I've been pleasantly surprised at least with the amount of turnover's this defense has forced over the last two games. If we don't get more pressure from the front four I'm not sure we'll see that trend continue. Will likely depend on which defense gets more takeaways.
Any game we win we’re going to have to win ugly.
