I think Florida loses 3 in the SEC this year still. Auburn, LSU, Georgia still left and then @ Missouri isn't going to be an easy one.

Kentucky shoulda beat them as well, they've only looked good against us and that was only for one half. This Trask kid might be the real deal though, he sure looked better throwing than Franks has.
I think they drop Mizzou too. That game will be at Mizzou and it will be COLD up there. UF just isn't that good imo.

Kingston and Hank obviously know more about football and coaching than Fulmer does. Why should we listen to him? If Pruitt hasn't turned this thing around 4 games in to year 2 then he isn't the guy, obviously. Who cares who the QB is or what the roster looks like?
For someone who supposedly has us both on ignore, you sure do know what we’re talking about a lot and it still seems to get your panties in a bunch.

No one is suggest Pruitt should have it completely “turned around” “4 games in to year 2.” But so far in his tenure he’s taken a car that was in a ditch, got it back on the road, then drove it into a tree. Now we’ll see if he can back it up and get back on the road.

And LOL at anyone who expected Fulmer to say anything else at this point in the season. As I’ve said before, he’ll be 100% behind Pruitt until the minute he has to fire him. It’s not like he, or any other athletic director, would admit to things going poorly.

He’s a big damn dork and annoying as all hell.

But so was Butch and this fanbase lapped it up. Winning cures everything.
I don't think I agree with the blanket statement that we lapped it up. Watching the glorious reminders earlier this week of the 2016 GA game, I can remember seeing the replay of his stupid leap, fall, kneel, pretend he's praying, thing and having a sense of embarrassment in what should have been a 100% joyous moment. I think most people knew he was a dork...plenty of Cincinnati folks had told us that we'd get to where we had a disdain for his ways, and they were exactly right.

“We have work to do. But there are some real opportunities out there. If we don’t turn the ball over, we’re a decent football team. But you can’t turn it over against anybody like we have done and expect to be successful.

“We’re going to stop the turnovers and we’re going to go forward, and we’re going to make this team something special.”

-Fulmer

I'm a big fan of the players on our team, especially the 2 classes Pruitt brought in. I have zero doubt that Pruitt is 100% bought in to winning here and building a dynasty.

As long as the players are bought in to Pruitt then will continue to support the staff & team. Saying all that 1-3 isn't just on JG, as much as he's been a disappointment I recall how happy the fans were when we landed him as a recruit, I was a tad worried about the "time square" announcement but was still excited. He was "obviously better" than Dormady too, and the 4-8 season as well as the 5-7 season he was given the benefit of the doubt big time people blamed the OL and Helton and all the new OCs etc. with good merit.

But I checked out on JG after that BYU game. There's good OL pass protection and we're running the ball well enough, absolutely no excuse exist. Still the rest of the team isn't that bad we need perfect QB play to beat Georgia State & BYU at home.

We'll see, I'd like to just see this year's team find a way to win 4 or 5 games of the last 8. Crazy as that sounds to some, I think if we manage to pull out a bowl game this year then we'll see a big improvement next season with how competitive and confident the team plays.

Mullen will never compete for a national championship.

Point?

Like 3 teams in the entire FBS will compete actually for it. Maybe 10 teams over the last 20 years. So nearly a quarter century of data says 8 percent of the teams (what 4 coaches total) will compete for a national championship over that time frame.

That’s not practical.

Bad start to the season might be a blessing in disguise since it’s going to force us to recruit instate. That’s what butch did to turn things around. He got in trouble when he started ignoring guys instate or missing on them
That tweet with Jackson is targeted at the in-state guys. Smart strategy, imo.

Agree with all of this. And as bad as it’s been so far, there’s plenty of opportunity to turn it around moving forward. Keep the team together and improving and get to four or five wins and we all move on to 2020 and recruiting.

He’s still going to be on the hottest seat in the country going into 2020 but there’s a legitimate path out of it.

At some point you have to point the blame at coaches. It’s clear that for now this fanbase is giving Pruitt as pass here and allowing JG to get the blame.

I dont see that as the case. No way we should ever give up 38 to ga st or 311 passing yards to a 1st time starter.

It takes a full team failure to lose to Ga St and I remember much of the blame going to the staff for treating it so lightly.

In what capacity? Pruitt is pulling the strings on defense and his claim to fame is DBs. So I’m not even sure how much power/responsibility/effect Ansley even has to begin with.
Why do you think we are in zone so much as opposed to last year? (If we are; that is my impression.)

And Theo is one of the lowest rated safeties we have according to services but he took to coaching and is probably our best safety right now. Kudos to him, which is why I am for taking some lower rated in state guys to build us up and will play hard here.

2020 is an interesting schedule. I hope that we're competitive at OU and maybe them breaking in a new QB (yet again) hurts 'em...I just hope it's not King or another obvious stud grad transfer making a Heisman run.

  • Sept. 5 — Charlotte
  • Sept. 12 — at Oklahoma
  • Sept. 19 — Furman
  • Sept. 26 — Florida
  • Oct. 3 — Missouri
  • Oct. 10 — at South Carolina
  • Oct. 24 — Alabama
  • Oct. 31 — at Arkansas
  • Nov. 7 – Kentucky
  • Nov. 14 — at Georgia
  • Nov. 21 — Troy
  • Nov. 28 — at Vanderbilt
There's 7 very winnable games right there, getting Georgia pushed back and Missouri earlier should be a positive. Florida at home and @ South Carolina could also be toss up games, I still feel like as bad as the last two seasons have been we're beating ourselves against the Gators more than they are just that much better.

Well, Florida wants to compete for championships. I don't think they hire football coaches expecting 9-3/10-2 every year. I do think that is relevant with the Mullen discussion. Sure, Mullen would probably have a better record than Pruitt here, but Florida hires coaches to win big.

I'm glad the schedule change was made. Who initiated that? I seem to recall it was Auburn but it did something for us we've been needing.

This game is scary to me. I would think the staff learned their lesson this year on overlooking opponents. Charlotte will be a very good football team

Nah, Will Healy is overrated and unfortunately for him/Charlotte the Georgia State upset happened. I expect that will be turned into a statement game.

Springer is beyond a 5 Star. He's in a whole new category by himself. The WorldStar!!!

The whole story behind of the origin of WS is fascinating.

There should be four guaranteed wins. 3 swing games. 5 games I don’t think we have much of a shot. If Pruitt is retained (which is the most likely scenario), I see Arkansas as the pivot game. Depending on how you see the Missouri game, I see us at 3-4 heading down to Arky. If you lose that one, I don’t see him being retained.

Missouri loses their QB (again) and this time will also lose their stud RB (most likely leaving for the draft early). They are also under Odom a historically bad team early in the season. Last year all 4 regular season losses happened before Halloween, 2017 they started the year 1-5 and didn't lose another game until the bowl game.
