So VQ thinks Maurer is gonna start?

What do we think the offense is going to look like with that being the case?

*Let's discuss anything but the Banks video*
Have no idea, but I would rather see Maurer get the opportunity for a game (not a series) and see if he can put stuff together. The unknown there is better and worth the risk compared to what I know with JG.

I have a funny feeling about this game. It's that feeling you know you get right before something major is about to happen in a movie. When like in a scary movie you already know they are about to trip and fall from running and get stabbed to death. Like seeing lightning strike and waiting for that big boom. I can't believe your still reading this post, you know we gonna lose by 30.

Oh I do know for sure that the word “usually” shouldn’t be used to describe improper police behavior. There are bad cops and they are disgusting but “usually” that isn’t the norm and that suggestion is equally disgusting
Unfortunately in many inner cities, its the norm.

No matter what we are losing the game. Why not give the other QBs a shot with the 1’s to learn and grow before the back half of our schedule? We are not going to win with JG and we have to give the others a shot.

I've thought that. A game in which you're a severe dog can be looked at as a tune-up/test-out game for learning against extreme competition. I mean you're still trying to win for what that's worth but the pressure of the W is not so dire, so it allows you some freedom to give potential gamers a chance to be just that.

I just don't see anything JG has showed us that earns him the right to get ANY snaps this weekend, much less start. Put the young guy out there for 4 quarters and let's see what he can do with a full game plan centered around him. sharing snaps all week with JG just isn't going to help a young guy trying to learn all the checks/gain chemistry with the starters. It's a hindrance to split snaps with JG who has shown he is a sunbelt level QB at best.

I get that too.

I just want the air taken out of the ball a bit before Maurer is in. I think the whole is better than the sum of the QB parts. Meaning JG can be asked to do less.

I don’t know. I think we can gameplan with both guys. I maintain that Maurer playing the whole game will be s bloodbath.

I rarely ask anything of VolNation but a great friend of ours was found deceased today in his home. He was a Georgia fan whose company was always welcome in this Vol house. Please extend your prayers to his final journey and his family.
So sorry. Prayers for all.

I somewhat agree, but getting blasted, possibly injured and potentially having no success at all in your first start could do more harm than good.

If we get blasted the noise will get louder and louder.

Sadly if we have a moral victory many including myself will say it’s a solid sign that Pruitt can turn this around

The Banks situation is an internal matter. UT is never going to win with some media people. Too many agendas, too much backstory, too much ill-will. Every large program has incidents like this-- and many that are worse. We just don't hear about those because the local media covering other programs do not make it their mission to turn every issue into a Very Big Deal. Knoxville media and local sports columnists do, then national media piles on. Everything at UT is magnified and blown way out of proportion.

Like most big programs, UT used to receive courtesy calls from the local police for player-involved incidents. But that caused major media outrage when it came to light during the Title IX investigations under Butch. So a lot of it stopped, even though it's SOP at other schools. Nobody's complaining at those schools... or writing about it... or digging up dirt to make those programs look bad. UT has fewer player incidents than most large programs. But you hear about every single transgression at UT-- while much bigger ones are quietly disposed of at other programs. Few programs could hold up to the scrutiny UT gets.

I think the downside of Tennessee having such a rabid fanbase is that is has propped up a lot of bad sports journalism. I think what's been happening is that when you don't have success to write about on the field, the click-chasers have to reach for whatever they can to get eyeballs on ads.

WBIR digging up this footage, and then everyone in Knoxville sports media clutching pearls, reeks of desperation.

Because, if we had teams kicking tail, they'd write about that. If Barnes wasn't killing it, they'd be writing article about how terrible it was that Pitino was allowed on our campus after what got him fired at Louisville.

Does anyone know if WBIR “dug this up” or if they initially filed a FOIA on the video immediately after the arrest and the police department dragged their feet on the release? Because that’s usually how this happens.

If anything, the spoon-fed narrative is to pretend everything is fine and that the national media is wrong about this. All the orange glasses wearers think it’s no big deal - people without a bias think it makes him look bad. I tend to agree.

And I’m not trying to get anyone fired for any of this ****. It just makes Pruitt look like a dummy.
right. just so happens no one in the media is offering any alternatives to the narrative you have decide to push, er, agree with......and that's just a conincidence huh?

when in doubt, pander to the lowest common denominator.........meh.

Rumor time. I talked to a guy in Knoxville over the weekend. He heard that internally there are concerns about JG and CTE. JG can’t remember his reads which would explain some of his regression. Talk about a huge liability issue if any of the coaches continued to play him despite this info.

I know you have me on ignore but just so everyone else sees it..

EL O EL. Like its different in any way. They still got it based off of FOIA of their request. Who cares when it was given to them.

JG led us to 34-3 loss against UF who is worse than UGA. And he didn’t even get us the three points. We will get blasted with JG.

agree. I don’t want to see Maurer struggle the first few drives then they pull him tho. If you’re going to start him. Give him the game. You’re going to lose anyway. Who cares

If the docs clear any player to play the coaches are in the clear

This is BS . Would CTE allow him remember his reads in practice, but only forget them in a game?
