This is what I keep circling back around to. Plus, I think we all thought Crompton was the second coming of Shuler.

I also can't think about the similarities between Crompton and JG, and how their poor play was an albatross around an entire program.
Crompton was so spectalularly bad. It was crazy with how he came in so highly thought of and the best he could ever muster by the end of his career was a 136 qbr. 123 career qbr woof!

And if the guy Pruitt sees in practice looks more like last year's JG (but with semi-decent OL play), it starts to make sense as to why they've seemed so clueless about game performance. I realize such a position isn't popular with the Pruitt Ain't Gonna Succeed crowd, but maybe he's not the complete lost cause some espouse.

Not anymore. They took the fun out of it.
Predictable effect that was widely noised abroad in advance.
As opposed to the predictable effect that it would create a two-tier field, which was largely ignored until it was too obvious to ignore.
As someone mentioned earlier today, if only they had started the playoff between 1999 and 2001! We'd prolly be stacked with talent to this day.

One of the best win percentages and all-time win/loss records not just in UT history, but all of college football. Wasn't going to "get it back to good" after a single season of 5-7 where he had to replace his entire offensive staff?

I do disagree, and there's nothing "fact" about your opinion of whether or not Fulmer could bounce back the following season.

2006 when they went 9-4 he lost to Florida by a single point, LSU by 4 and @ Arkansas by 17. Wasn't exactly "losing" his touch.

Shoot if 2007 when we played for the SEC title and won 10 games isn't good enough then you're never going to be satisfied.

I won’t get into the “Fulmer would have done fine if we kept him” debate. But the losses to LSU and Arkansas in 2006 were with a backup Crompton at QB. We should have beaten LSU because Russell fumbled late, and they called him down.

So one was a QB coach in the Pros and one was not...... bet you can’t guess which one.
Please refrain from looking up stats for Goff his one year under Weinke. You can't begin to compare the QBs under Helton vs Weinke. So far Weinke has pre McVay Goff and JG.

Everyone has seemingly forgotten that Fulmer won about half of the big games he could've won thanks to conservative play and the Mustang Package. His win loss percentage is completely different with Cutcliffe versus without him. They fired him 4 years to late and a year too soon as well. The timing was horrible.
Commend the take.
