It was not a stretch to hire Jeremy Pruitt. He was the defensive coordinator for two national championship winning programs. The logic was sound behind the decision.

Whether he fails or not, it was not a *bad* hire.
Especially considering the complete clown show that preceded his hire.

A stretch to hire a first time HC more than anything.
Yes, that could be argued for sure. But we hired three head coaches before that and they didn’t work either.

Some of this stuff just isn’t about resume, I guess. There’s no sure thing any way you slice it. We’re not picking bad coaches on paper (besides Dooley.) we’re just not picking the right coaches.

Kiffin was also a bad hire "on paper" but I agree.

forgot about clemson...lol.

i don't know...man...LSU, Auburn, Bama, UGA......you can find 2 play off teams in that group i think. UGA wins the SEC goes undefeated and you maybe have a 1 loss West team sitting there???

gonna be some tough choices to make possibly....
not sold on Georgia all the way. I don’t think they will be undefeated after FL, Aub,

i think we'll see some flashes of "better"...but i don't see us having any answer for their OL...and i expect they'll have a field day rushing the ball.....their defense is good too.....i think the spread is about right, it's up to what, 25?
I think so. If I was forced to bet, I think I would still take the GA and give the points. I get the feeling Kirby will want to embarrass us as much as possible.

Urban coached 4 years as a HC before UF. He didn’t win his conference at BG. He went undefeated at Utah in a G5 conference. Have no idea how that is light years, considering he was only a HC for 4 years.

Not sure how I can make it any clearer, and I will now stop. UF has done the same thing, and UGA hired Kirby. From the same bin, but the actual hires need to be better.

It gets lost a lot of times that Florida hires and fires coaches just as much as we do. They just do it better, even in their “failures”.

Where do you guys park when you don't have a parking pass?

Been going to games as long as I remember, but have only parked in one certain area. (Off the strip)

Park downtown. Plenty of low cost parking available, plenty of restaurant options, fairly easy walk (or you can take the trolley), easy to get on I-40 after the game.

i think Auburn is the only team on the schedule that can beat them. they can handle FL.....

and i'm not sure they can win the SEC title game. those 3 teams in the West are stupid good....can't wait to see those 3 games...aub/lsu, lsu/Bama, bama/aub....Bama has the benefit of having to play us and USCe. LSU gets FL and Vandy and Auburn gets UGA and FL....

man Auburn's schedule is hard........lol.

When the Pruitt hire occurred we knew then and know now the current QB situation was a mess. We know Fulmer did not mess the hire up, he tried to make a bad situation better. The point of the potential Mullen hire before that was that he was good enough to turn a bad situation around to where the program won consistently and became more attractive for future HC hires if UT ever moved on from him. He had proven he could do that and as an offensive coach with QB whisperer skills.

What did the initially 4th string Dobbs prove for Botch? That any bad HC could luck into a 5 year gig at P-5 if they luck into the right QB playing. Botch sold enough elite players to come, he was good at selling. Once that played out and Dobbs moved on it was over. However, UT was stuck with what was left and paying Botch long after he turned to interning. So regardless of the brief success, it was a horrible hire as Dools was before him.

The replacement did not have to be Mullen. But it did need to be an offensive coach who could personally handle the QB situation who had significant prior HC experience. UT/Haslam's botched it up with the Currie hire. Hamilton's guy, Kiffin, could have been THE guy, but was too immature. He was the right profile. People forget past lessons. During the long years of building the program to success, who were the two HC's leading it? One was a NC winning proven alum HC who was an offensive guy. The other was his right hand alum OL/OC who was involved in that rebuild for many years who recruited and developed the players on offense. Both knew who they needed and how to do it to win a NC and the SEC.

Now we are stuck with losing until/if Pruitt figures it out. It's that simple. At least Botch played other QB's until he lucked into one. Will see if Pruitt will.

Guys I normally just park across Henley and walk to the game a little before kickoff, but want to get there early and just take the whole day in Saturday. I haven't done that in a few years, and the game probably won't be that enjoyable so I'd like to enjoy everything before kickoff. I'm looking for recommendations on parking that I can do a small amount of tailgating and be fairly close to go to Vol Walk, etc. Thanks.
