So your argument is both Dooley and Jones was the best we could have gotten?

No, my position is that we were always hiring a coach in a similar situation as them. A G5 coach who has had some good years or a coordinator who you just don’t know how he will run a program.

It’s clear that I have stated that Dooley and Butch individually were not good hires. But as I have said, McElwain, Muschamp, and even Urban Meyer had similar (or worse) resumes. That’s the TYPE that we will hire.

The reason our football team sucks so bad is that our BOT has hired criminally incompetent Athletic Directors since Dickey retired. I thought Fulmer might be changing that trend, but that remains to be seen. I do know he loves Tennessee and wants to get our program back to where it used to be, very badly.

You need to exclude urban. His resume was light years better than anything Dooley or Butch even dreamed about. Comparing our hires to others is irrelevant to the discussion any way. My statement still stands that the administration has taken the fan base for granted. They've shoved substandard hires down our throats for 10 years. Every hire has been a head scratcher not only from people wearing orange colored glasses but from national media as well. You can chose to believe those hires were adequate and deserving hires. I chose to believe otherwise. Obviously I have hindsight in my corner but No one at the time thought they were worthy hires and required UT fans to file our misgivings in a file way back in the back of the file cabinet.

Chris Ash who was fired as the head coach at Rutgers today was previously the DC at Ohio State and he was replaced by Greg Schiano when he took the Rutgers job.

Urban coached 4 years as a HC before UF. He didn’t win his conference at BG. He went undefeated at Utah in a G5 conference. Have no idea how that is light years, considering he was only a HC for 4 years.

Not sure how I can make it any clearer, and I will now stop. UF has done the same thing, and UGA hired Kirby. From the same bin, but the actual hires need to be better.

If he was on the list it was on down it. Even given the timing.

Kippy Brown for a year made sense if that was were you got to.
Such a stupid decision by Hamilton to mandate the new coach kept on x amount of assistants to save on buyout money.

I know that ended Cut’s interest and you have to imagine most established head coaches felt the same way.
