Still didn't answer my question.

I understand the question. No one can EVER answer exactly to Dooley and Butch because they failed here and won’t get a shot. All you can do is compare Zook, Urban, Muschamp, McElwain, Smart, Richt, Shula, etc. Tell me what the difference is with who we hired. All were either coordinators or a HC at a G5.

Good luck ever finding your answer because it will never exist. Just a subjective argument.

No.
They hired mcelwain, Zook, Donnan, Mike price, Shula, dubose, will muschamp, and Dennis franchionne...

We're not the first program to go thru this... Not even the best of today hired the best always.
I think everyone of those coaches you mentioned with exception of Price beat us. Dubose?

we could have paid a winner 8-10.

instead we got a cut rate for $4. brick by brick & aight/cornbread.

I believe it’s been said on here before by some insiders. UT or boosters will not give up control a head coach worth that much would want. I could be mistaking but I remember this being said a few searches ago.

It's almost criminal how many times Kamara is open and wasted in this offense... almost as bad as his time at UT.... Brees at least looks for Kamara but Bridgewater is clueless... they would have two TD's by now if he was being used properly...

Also I bet a million dollars no one said a WORD to Witten on the sidelines when he fumbled... not even the HC...
Imagine having Alvin Kamara on your team and yet throwing your RB screens to Latavius ****ing Murray.

I’ve heard many talking heads saying the same thing in recent weeks: this is a 4-5 year rebuild. From local guys to national writers. I’m beginning to agree. I think we will win some games and should make bowl games every year during this rebuild. If that happens, I can wait it out. As long as I see consistent improvement, overall buy in and the occasional upset. JMO...
We still have a chance to make a bowl game this year. Vandy, UAB, SC, KY, and MSST are winnable games. This bye week is big for us. We came out and beat AU last year. We need to play good ball against UGA next week. Would be huge for morale

I offer that all you mentioned had better resumes than Butch or Dooley and even Pruitt Rom a coordinator point of view. FL GA AL or any other SEC team save Vandy maybe, would have looked at either. They both were trash hires that our administration sold as the best we could get. The real statement should have been the best we'rewilling to get.

It doesn't really matter, what you're claiming, you have no proof. Just like you can't prove that the majority of fans wanted Pruitt as HC. Did we gain power then lose it? Your argument is based on a straw man fallacy.
What is your argument based on, exactly?

I’ll never forget the scroll down at the bottom on ESPN once the news Kiffin was leaving was digested.

Something like: “ESPN’s Chris Low reports that Kyle Whittingham, David Cutcliffe, Gary Patterson, Troy Calhoun and Derek Dooley are all expected to be serious candidates.”

I’d never heard of the last one and just laughed him off. WELP.
I don't recall hearing about Dooley at all until Cut didn't happen.

I understand that they weren’t good selections, and that’s where competence comes in. But those are the type of coaches that our rivals are hiring too. The landscape of hiring coaches has changed. You just can’t say that we can throw money at it anymore because the big schools can’t either. Heck, USC hired Clay Helton.

Butch Jones’ resume is not any worse than Jim McElwain’s. McElwain never even won a conference. Before UF, Muschamp might have had one or two more years as a DC than Pruitt. Not a difference.

Again, many of those had the chance to hire Dooley and Jones and none did. Our administration didn't prioritize winning. They passed over other more qualified candidates because they'd have cost more money. Cutcliff and Petersen are two that come to mind. The UT administration has taken the fan base for granted for years and they're about to pay the price. If Pruitt fails, watch and see.

I agree. If we can make it through Ga and Bama relatively healthy and playing better, I think we can. SC, KY and Vandy are every bit as bad as us if not worse.

It’s a flawed argument and one that will never get answered. But that’s fine.

Our rivals have been hiring coaches from the same bin that we have. Only exception is Saban, which was about timing.

I agree, UT is very close to losing this fan base. They already lost a generation that has saw Butch as the best coach in the past decade. It's a sad state of affairs. I'm almost to the point where I care less if I watch a game, my wife is happier though.

So your argument is both Dooley and Jones was the best we could have gotten?
