I am wondering what exactly happened to him
His last year at UT... yea I know his recruiting was really kinda bad in the trenches and the QBs didn’t fit his system and he had no S&C for s few years....

But I’ve always been curious as to what changed in his attitude... like he looked after the games like he would shake hands and talk to the other coaches and be smiling and not bothered we just got massacred..... like almost like he’d just completely given up or he wanted to get fired....

Also, I was wondering exactly what bad things his son was telling Cade Mays and others about UT?

Any insiders or folks who knows any of this stuff would be great insight as to how we got this bad lol....

Well...it must not be to bad, if his brother or kin is committed to us. Must be over with now.

His QBs after Dobbs were terrible. Still paying for it today.

He deserved another year honestly if you base it on like Johnny majors success. He underachieved with great players but so have many others. I think Phil Fulmer underachieved. The 97 team was loaded.

I get all that... but why did it look like he didn’t care anymore about winning,?
Folks at Cincinnati mostly said he was a pretender of a coach right after we hired him. The first time I saw him get that notepad out to take notes while Inky Johnson spoke to the team I thought he might be trouble. Truth is, without Dobbs, Jones likely does not have made it past year three.

The 99 team was even better yet they lost 3 games. The 1990 team was loaded but was upset by a really bad Bama team.

He left his mark on the place that is for certain... much like a glacier does when it recedes.

I’ll say it again. Read the two books about how we got in this position: ‘Empowered’ and ‘Decade of Dysfunction.’ Read the sections on how Butch dealt with injured players and ask again if he should’ve gotten more time.

The verdict on BJ came in after his 4th year collapse. He was DMW his last year, and he knew it. That's why recruiting dried up and the staff bailed. (Same exact thing with Dooley his 3rd year).
